Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

@LBSK -
I agree.
I don't buy someone coming into the thread who knows enough about politics to feel that Trump is being unfairly attacked, and who supposedly think that Praeger U is an unbiased source, is so ignorant of politics that they don't know who the opposing party's candidate is.

As a non-American, I'm as blind as they come, but even I know who Joe Biden is, because he always mentions that he was the former vice-president and is always painted as The Rival to Bernie Sanders, who has an enormous appeal overseas.
ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.Nah, days. Technically years, but he was off doing some adventure or another the rest of the time.
The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -FighteerIf you guys knew the truth, he spent most of his tenure getting bailed out by Obama and doing wacky, crazy old uncle antics.
After 2016 I'm kind of done with "silliness" in USA politics.
I kind of think that's part of how Trump won. Too many people didn't take him seriously enough because he's a silly ridiculous caricature of a human being. But the thing is, just because something is silly doesn't mean it's not also dangerous.

Disgusted, but not surprised

I was waiting for someone to make a "bidin' his time" joke. Now I don't have to make it.
Do not obey in advance.
