Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

" Maybe Republicans will begin to understand that voting against someone rather than for them can have damning consequences and Democrats will take a more principled stance on key human rights issues once Obama is out of office"
I laughed so hard reading this, that the lemonade I was drinking came out off my nose.

Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016Eh, let's all vote for who we want.
I for one liked Biden's style; he kicked ass and had some facts. Obama may have gotten his organs handed to him by Romney in the debates but that doesn't mean I buy Mitten's vision one bit. Remember the issues, people. Who do you really think is going to be the better leader?
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~Neither of them I think is good enough for the Presidency.
Romney has what it takes to be a leader and has more experience leading, but I don't trust him farther than I can throw him not to sell us out to his "friends" and not to go to war with Iran.
Obama is somewhat of a wuss, but I agree with some of his policies more, and he's done a somewhat okay job already. He's also mended our relationship with some of the rest of the world, which is good also.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."And Romney managed to piss off every country he visited a few months back.

Apparently, the American voting public want a leader who talks loudly, regardless of how many lies he can spew within 38 minutes. How else can the first debate be explained?

He has sex appeal?
Not to mention those cuts are incredibly fucking negligible. The Navy. I still can't get over that.
We've seen a reboot of the nuclear arms race, pouring billions into refurbishing our existing warheads while making plutonium for new ones. I think we can stand to lose a destroyer here or there.
I'm a skeptical squirrel

Clearly all Obama has to do is laugh through the entire debate and mock Romney and be all "Bitch please>"
