Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

It's not a super new thing, and shouldn't be a cause for any particular concern.
For some additional context, Fox and Friends was on TV this morning where I'm staying, and I heard the hosts complaining about the New York Times supposedly shilling for the Democrats. Just because they're trying to pander to the right, doesn't mean that they're being welcomed with open arms or anything.
It's the eternal curse of stupid centrists everywhere, they pander to the Right all day every day but because they aren't completely servile they're still treated as enemies. It would be sad if they weren't helping terrible people.
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangIts the same dynamic with Conservatives and White Nationalists. If there is one thing Nazis hate even more than Liberals its "Cuckservatives" who aren't radical enough.
And yet these conservatives still do their biding, more or less.

So there was a recent Quinnipiac poll
that reflects a lot of the trends we've been seeing of Warren gaining momentum, but it has a particular data point that I find very important: Biden's support from black voters has dipped from 53% to 40%. Meanwhile Warren has gone from 8% to 19% support from that same demographic in the last two months. Depending on just how much more Warren can gain from that demographic then Biden could be in serious trouble.
BUT HER EMAILS!
lives on again. Trump's people are investigating aides and others that sent emails to Hillary to her private server. Definitely trying to confuse and stall the Ukraine investigations.
That's not a deflection, actually. Bizarre as it is, "BUT HER EMAILS THO" is actually relevant to this case.
Trump wanting Ukraine to investigate Biden is the part that's gotten all the attention, but that actually wasn't the only thing they discussed in the infamous call. Trump also inquired about the mythical Crowdstrike server.
There's this conspiracy theory that says that the cybersecurity company Crowdstrike has a server somewhere in the world that contains Hillary Clinton's 30,000 deleted emails, and it's believed to be in Ukraine. Finding that server is like a Grail Quest for QAnon and their ilk.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Oh wow, so Trump may get fucked over because of a Conspiracy Theory? What an ironic way to get hoisted by your own petard.
Do not obey in advance.Naturally, Hillary is having fun with her emails.

Has some interesting stuff on how some parts of the far right support his idea/policies.

As has been said, he's the white techbro candidate, which is not good if you're not one or both of those things. Doesn't help that he's associated himself with podcasters that could be very generously described as "conservative".

Democrats say White House stonewalling won't drag out inquiry and will boost case for impeachment – House Democrats are developing a new plan to deal with any White House stonewalling to their upcoming demands for records and testimony: They will use it as evidence for an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump, according to sources involved in the discussions.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/27/politics/white-house-stonewalling-democratic-strategy/index.html
Democrats are hoping that the tactic will force White House officials to make a choice: They could provide records to bolster the Democratic investigation, or they can resist the House subpoenas and add to the Democrats' case that Trump has sought to obstruct Congress. On Friday, three Democratic chairmen signaled their plans in the first round of subpoenas issued since Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the impeachment inquiry earlier this week.
"Your failure or refusal to comply with the subpoena shall constitute evidence of obstruction of the House's impeachment inquiry," the chairmen wrote to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
