Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

It’s not even passive ignorance or not caring about science. It’s been established time and time again they are actively fighting against science.
My musician pageDoes he even understand what a nuclear explosion does?! You'd think even he would realize that it's a bad idea to have a poisonous cloud of dust spread all over the soil of the country that he's president of. What if it ends up being carried by the wind to where he is and he breathes it in?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
He's not suggesting nuking them on American soil.
He's suggesting nuking them while they're still in the middle of the ocean.

Yes, we currently have a President where this is not actually impossible. I've long since come to terms with this current paradigm.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI really wish the 25th Amendment option could be invoked here. That would require people with spines.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Sharknado didn't invent this. Yoko Tsuno at least, had done it years before... And wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the first either.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Which is all kinds of fucked up.
This isn't the most WTF thing Trump has ever said, but it's probably in the top ten.
...I can't even tell if this is just standard Cruel But Stupid President Trump, or if it's another bout of belligerent nonsense from Chosen One Trump.
I think he might have gone senile in office. But I'm not sure, because he was already very stupid and impulsive before. I honestly cannot tell the difference between our President devolving into a raving madman and our President just behaving normally.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The problem is that senility would logically make preexisting cruelty, malice, etc. even worse, by negatively impacting what little restraint or sensibilities he used to have.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. He most likely just wants an excuse to use the nukes.
After all, he has been quoted to say "What's the point of having nukes if we don't use them?"
He's just itching to score a touchdown with the nuclear football that have been kept out from his reach...so far.

He's like a kid with fireworks. Can't wait to set them off.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
That's giving him too much credit, even if it is distracting. He's not saying stupid stuff to distract people from his evil. He's just someone who sees no need to filter anything he says or practice discretion. He's your Racist Grandma, except as President. Heck, I bet that's why a lot of older people voted for him in the first place.

Disgusted, but not surprisedNukes wouldn’t destroy a hurricane.
The resulting energy would actually fuel it more depending on where you drop it due to the immense heat that would rise up from the ocean.
Watch SymphogearTrump skips G7 climate summit with aides claiming scheduling conflict
"Scheduling conflict"...right.
Disgusted, but not surprised

You think this administration cares about science?
i'm tired, my friend
