Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Fortunately, the NRA's been going progressively downhill lately, thanks to scandals about their leadership causing other names to leave it and causing financial problems.
8chan Is a Megaphone for Gunmen. ‘Shut the Site Down,’ Says Its Creator. – The site is a venue for extremists to test out ideas, share violent literature, and cheer on the perpetrators of mass killings

As they ran out money (can't survive without that sponsorship cash!" expect them get less and less relevant, until everyone has mostly forgotten about them and they quietly die in the corner, although in all likelihood a similar acronym styled Guns advocacy will fill in for them, maybe they'll be the ARN or something
have a listen and have a link to my discord server6 of the victims of the El Paso massacre were Mexican nationals
Yeah, I think we all know how Trump's going to treat this little factoid.
Hey how you doing well I'm doing just fine I lied I'm dying insideWeirdly, I actually appreciate that the Mexican government is upset. It's nice to see that some political leaders actually care when their citizens get murdered by American gunmen. God knows ours don't.
If they sue us, I'm actually rooting for Mexico. Maybe international pressure can convince Congress to do something.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. This 100%. I don't give a shit if I get called a traitor, the Trump administration and its supporters need to learn the consequences of their hateful rhetoric. And if it means a major lawsuit against the US government, then so be it.

Hey how you doing well I'm doing just fine I lied I'm dying insideIf the Trump administration calls anyone a traitor, the best thing to do is to point out that they betrayed the nation first.
Though were I in in Mexico's shoes, I'd try suing more than just Trump but also the aforementioned 8chan and the NRA as well. All three are linked to the alt-right and the recent mass shootings.
Can we include Reddit in there, too? I have no doubt T_D and a few other subs have had a hand in these 2 shootings, even if it simply means radicalizing the shooters in the first place.
Oh, wait, they can't, because if they ban alt-right subs it prevents "valuable discussion". Yeah, fuck you too, spez.
Nope, it's still there. Quarantinednote , but still there.

Hey how you doing well I'm doing just fine I lied I'm dying insideIn fact, the NRA benefits strongly from the fear of gun legislation more than actual guns itself. The NRA is paid by the gun industry and hordes of gun-nuts so that the reason it became the powerhouse it was in large part was due to the racism and fear of "Obama gunna take our guns." It was the election of Trump that more or less helped cause it's collapse that's reaching Enron levels now (that and being so fucking stupid as to hire Oliver North—a man who is both a criminal AND a spymaster because they forgot their defense of him was Blatant Lies).
What happened? When people believed their Messiah was in office, they stopped donating to the NRA.
By that point, they'd already driven themselves massively in-debt and bought a network no one watched.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. So Be Careful What You Wish For incarnate? Maybe the nra will collapse...pfff ahaha who am I kidding, if a progressive wins in 2020 they’re set for another decade.
r/the_donald was "quarantined", which in Reddit terminology means that it's basically invisible to the rest of the site. Posts from r/the_donald won't show up in search results, on the front page, or in r/all. The only way to see content posted to r/the_donald is to go there deliberately — and anyone doing that gets a big warning saying that the subreddit has been quarantined and why.
tldr, they haven't kicked it off Reddit entirely, but they've made it so that you'll only see it if you're deliberately, explicitly looking for it.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Honestly, is question of time. Plus, it's kind of impossible to remove a place for the American president. I expect the Donald to close after Trump's term is over, but not during.
Watch me destroying my countryReddit's owners aren't actually Donaldists themselves.
Primarily because they've been threatened with violence, doxing, and lawsuits because of the shit R/Donald and other groups like them have brought down on them. The site owners and managers did it for money and were Silicon libertarian types but they're not neck deep in the cult of the Cheeto.
Their primary wish is for the shit they bring to go away.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. That and the federal government likes sites like that existing, cloudfare (8chans host) has said the only reason they don't remove it is the DOJ tells them not too, same with Stormfront and its host.....
...
This isn't the "DOJ agreeing with them either" the logic is by giving all these people a place to congregate, it becomes easier to watch them and intercept them when they go to do something bad....
...
Which happens pretty often, you just never hear about terror attacks that get stopped.
Speaking of 8chan, reminder that THQ Nordic higher ups had an AMA on 8chan and even advertised it by pinning it to the top of their Twitter account for days back in late February.
So, yeah, fuck THQ Nordic.
