Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

To compare Obama to Williamson is an egregious insult to Obama, he had style in abundance and substance. Williamson barely has the former.

The audience expected nothing good from her, the other candidates ignored her and didn't call her out on anything. She wasn't in a debate, she was giving micro-speeches.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.In other words, she doesn't belong on the presidential nomination podiums. She should be a backer for one of the candidates, preferably the ones that aren't blatant Red Shirts.
ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.an op-ed from Vox
that details more reasons why Williamson shouden't be the candidate (and also that she's dangerous even at her currently level of visibility)
On that note, I feel like Williamson and Trump are symptoms of over emphasizing the "theater" part of "political theater".
The problem is, the general public won’t go for any news source that plays the theater part any less than the current big players.

Ex-McConnell staffers lobbied on Russian-backed Kentucky project – Democrats are pushing the Trump administration to review the project, and they say McConnell indirectly helped facilitate it

We passed pot legalization in Kentucky for veterans and to boost the economy.
Mitch decided never to hold the final vote for it.
He's just an all round crook with no respect for democracy.

Rich and powerful people being arrested for their crimes?
Tell me another one!
Mitch isn't a subordinate. He was here before Trump, and he'll be here after.

In other words, frauds like her are good at exploiting flaws in human cognition to enhance their vapid and worthless message.
