My idea is less abolishing the filibusterer more deterring, its the nuclear option,so you need something to counter it
My suggestion involves hiring a brass band and having them play whenever it looks like they're going on too long..

X4 538 actually ran the numbers and it turns out that politicians do generally make a serious effort to follow though on their campaign promises, we just like to say they don’t because the conventional wisdom is “politician bad”
X2 Remember under current rules they don’t to actually speak continuously, just threaten to do so.
Sure but you might not be able to spend political capital on anything else if the filibuster is left in place.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much of that is a hard-and-fast rule and how much of it is "Okay, we've got 41+ people willing to filibuster this thing, so they could keep that shit going for a while and grind everything else to a halt. We're better off tabling that legislation and moving on to something we can actually resolve."
"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"
X4 You’re grossly misinterpreting what I said, what I was suggesting is a strategy based around ones opponent generally be older and thus less able to carry out a physical activity for an extender period of time before needing to rest. Secondarily it banks on the fact that republicans are less likely than democrats to put their personal physical well being on the line to protect their ideals.
Blocking something as a minority should be costly, it should cost the people doing it personally, it should require personal sacrifice regardless of who is blocking what, now I believe that that would work to the democrats advantage, because I think that democrat senators are more moral and more willing to engage in self-sacrifice.

I checked when the last one was and it was 2017. Senator from Oregon spoke for 14 hours to protest the Gorsuch nomination.
And there was another of the year before that, also from a Democrat for 14 hours, protesting the lack of gun control bills.
Also, what actually do the Democrats need to do? Just have someone in the chair while the Republican Senator babbles on? Seems an easier gig to me. It would be painful, but I bet two to three months of forcing the Republicans to literally talk the talk when it comes to the filibuster will see them give way in the end.
And thing is it doesn't have to get in the way of the legislative agenda. Even if Warren won with all her plans there's no way her and her team could produce model legislation to enact all of her reforms in the transition period.
What the Democrats should do if they win the Senate and Presidency in 2020 is immediately call for a repeal of the Trump tax cuts. With the right framing that really isn't the hill Republicans want to be seen dieing on... but their doners want them to.
The optics of the Republicans exhausting themselves, talking for days on end, in order to preserve tax breaks for the 1 percent? You couldn't write it better for the Democrats. And while it might gum up the Senate floor there is plenty of work that can be done in committee with proper due process.
Trump campaign launches Trump branded reusable plastic straws, mocking paper straws.
She made the promise to support it being repealed, that does not mean that she personally is responsible for getting it removed. Merely that she'll campaign to convince the Senators to vote to remove it.
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangThat would be convincing if we're talking about a high profile policy or issue, removing the filibuster is a serious idea to wonks and activists and neither group represents the electorate as a whole.
I really don't think the filibuster failing to be removed is going to cause much backlash amongst the public.
It would be a travesty for different reasons.

So going back to Warren's promise to abolish the filibuster a moment, but in general my first thought was "I'll believe it when I see it" it seems like an unrealistic promise that would actually hurt her popularity if she did become President unless it was literally was the first thing she did as President. It's also worth bearing in mind politicians do make a LOT of promises they don't keep to,it's all about getting people to listen to you, promising to abolish something makes a good sound sound byte
That aside she does seem like a sensible choice, with lots of plans and promises and she'd win me over that alone, but, still have my doubts over what she can realistically achieve were she actually to become president
