Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Bernie had a blah night. Biden got torched and couldn’t stop fellating Obama to make a case for himself. Harris excelled.
Marianne Williamson is an adorable kook.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."![]()
I don't recall it being an official slogan of hers, but I definitely saw it a lot.

Anyone able to help me dig up Biden's stated rationale at the time and/or how far away said busing would have occurred? Her comparison was having me riding a bus for an hour to go to a city school while living in a rural district.
"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"The Citizenship Question was struck down because they lied to the Court about the reason to add it to the Census. The Census has to be printed really soon; due to the equipment used to print it, the Printing has to begin sometime in July, although some have speculated it can be pushed until October. The Supreme Court is not taking new cases until September.
It is almost impossible for Trump to add the Citizenship Question to the Census now, which is why Trump wants to delay it; however, the Constitution mandates that the Census has to be sent out early next year, and the law makes April 1st the day the Census is actually sent to people. Trump can whine all he wants, but it has to be sent out, and it has to be sent out April 1st, 2020, without the Citizenship Question.
EDIT: And only now, after re-reading your question, do I realize you meant the Gerrymandering Ruling for the Primaries, not the Census Question on the Census. My bad.

I'd be fine with either Harris or Warren as the nominee, with the other being their running mate.
Watch SymphogearWatching Trevor Noah's breakdown now, goddamn I wish I caught that "passing the torch" bit live.
And yeah, kudos to Warren and Harris on this first debate. Not fond of Harris' record, but publicly shaming Biden like that was just beautiful.
