Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Face me now, bitch!
If you had ever read any of my posts, you would know that I am critical of this exact mentality of the farther Left in America, especially when it comes to the followers of those such as Sanders. You would have only gotten the exact opposite take if you had never bothered to read any of what I have said.
"Somehow the hated have to walk a tightrope, while those who hate do not."![]()
Jimmy Dore is a sterling example of the dumb left. He and Sam Seder had a heated disagreement/debate (it was almost enough to be called a feud) over the fact that Dore would rather have Trump in office on the chance it would cause a massive left-wing backlash and sweep a genuine left-wing candidate into office rather than get corporate Democrat Hillary in the White House and have it be business as usual. Seder argued (from a socialist/social democrat perspective) that voting for a right-wing 'corporate Democrat' was always preferable to allowing the GOP in, and that voting for anyone BUT that Democrat would necessarily help the GOP in.

Thank you for putting a name to it.
Now that I think about it, that's basically what Dominionism is, just with theological driven goals.

"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."The original strain was more or less "let Hitler win, and watch a global socialist revolution happen". It falls into the political left's common misassumption that social progression is a given, combined with a total lack of empathy for anyone who gets hurt in the process.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. It originated from the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, with Soviet-aligned socialists in Europe and especially the US using it as one of their many bullshit excuses for not opposing Fascism, because Stalin wasn't.
Even the people who espoused it knew it was utter nonsense.

Angry gets shit done.>On the whole "are the Centrists or the Left not accepting the other" thing, its both. I've seen people of both quarters not support the other. Just as we had a small 'Bernie or Bust' group, so to did we have a small group of people vote third party than vote for AOC, or have Senators like Feinstein talk down to activists.
>Accelerationism
Its bad. Its usually espoused, from what I can tell, from those who have nothing to lose in the "everything gets worse" portion of their plan.
The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -FighteerIt's one of the issues that killed communism in America that rather than develop their own strain, they were very much interested in being in lock step with the Soviet Union.
It lended a bit of credibility to otherwise ridiculous charges against the Left as a whole.
(Not that the Left in America wasn't under constant neverending assault period)
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Accelerationism as a tactic tends to be rather stupid, accelerationism as a nineties philosophy is this completely insane amphetamine-fuelled blend of cyberpunk, the internet, obscure French philosophers and a hundred other things that I for one find rather entertaining to read about
if of basically no practical use. Did produce the ever excellent Mark Fisher as well as all the cultish millenarian Silicon Valley neoreactionaries though.
So anyway,Trump thinks he can fight impeachment by heading to the supreme court
which he can't because that decision is decided upon by congress as US Constitution
"...The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. The Constitution, Article I, Section 3: The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments..."
So he's fighting in wrong place and trying to start open war between congress and the supreme court,Christ he's desperate
have a listen and have a link to my discord server
Could be worried that if his Tax Returns are revealed he'd get enough Republicans to side with the Democrats. Plus Trump's approval Ratings are really low right now; sure they'll probably bounce up in a month or two, but right now they're probably going to go lower because of these various fights he's starting. That could be enough to get some 'Swing' Republicans, like Romney, to at least say "If we can prove he did something illegal in his Taxes, then yeah, we'll impeach him".
It's also probably a rallying cry to his Trumpeteers to get them to think that the Democrats are 'out of control' and 'trying to stage a coup'.
Minorities, older adults boost Biden atop 2020 Democratic field: Reuters/Ipsos poll
Minorities? Surprising, in my experience most of them go for Warren, Harris, or Sanders (mainly the international ones in his case). I do worry that all the people running for the primary are going to split the vote away from one of the more qualified second runners in favor of a milquetoast like Biden.
