They did but ICE is the reason that the problem existed.
Local law enforcement involving themselves in immigration matters will only exaggerate the problem.
ICE has also ncouraged it in Florida.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.... I don't know if I should be glad or disappointed that nothing important happened since I was here last.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Re: ICE and local law enforcement. Trump's attitude has driven them to adopt a "working towards the Fuhrer" sort of approach. It might not be aa directive, but it happened because they understand that such behavior is tolerated at the highest level.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."It's a refreshing break from, say, National Socialism, where you often saw people happily carrying out some mass murder order then once they face the music/war crime tribunals they all claim "I didn't do it". OTOH, it sets a worrying precedent of people disregarding executive authority, especially since technically the US executive is subordinate to the president.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRepresentative Seth Moulton (D-MA) has announced a 2020 presidential run.
He enters the race as an underdog, with little national name recognition and a shorter track record than some of his opponents who have spent years in the U.S. Senate or as state governors.
But Moulton, 40, has already built a political career driven by challenging the party’s establishment.
“Decades of division and corruption have broken our democracy and robbed Americans of their voice,” he said in the video, which was released early on Monday.
“While our country marches forward, Washington is anchored in the past,” he said.
Moulton was first elected to Congress in 2014 after mounting a primary challenge against John Tierney, a fellow Democrat who had held his seat for 18 years.
After Democrats took control of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018, Moulton led an unsuccessful effort to remove Nancy Pelosi as the party’s leader in the chamber.
“Tough conversations make us stronger, not weaker, and we need to keep having them if we’re going to deliver on the change that we’ve promised the American people,” Moulton said in a statement announcing the end of his opposition to Pelosi.
In the video, Moulton said he wants to tackle climate change and grow the U.S. economy by promoting green jobs as well as high tech and advanced manufacturing jobs.
“I’m running because we have to beat Donald Trump,” he said.
Moulton served in the Marines from 2001 to 2008. During his 2014 congressional bid, he became a vocal critic of the Iraq War in which he served, saying no more troops should be deployed to the country.
He also has advocated stricter gun laws, saying military-style weapons should not be owned by civilians.

That's always been my impression of the infamous Trump Tower meeting. It basically went,
- Veselnitskaya: My patrons in Russia are so happy to meet and talk to you today about adoptions, wink wink.
- Don Jr.: Wait, what? I thought we were talking about you guys helping us take down Hillary Clinton!
- Veselnitskaya: No no no, we would never discuss anything that might be considered criminal. Wink. Wink.
- Don Jr.: Stop winking at me, it's creepy! If you're not going to help me do crimes, we've got nothing to talk about here!
Every report about the meeting features Don Jr. whining about the clever spy-talk excuse that he was too stupid to comprehend.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. This is why it helps to have a background in government before you run for president. Because there's this whole culture to doing everything.
Including international criminal espionage shenanigans between governments.

Elizabeth Warren just released a student debt and college tuition proposal.
That’s why I’m proposing a historic new federal investment in public higher education that will eliminate the cost of tuition and fees at every public two-year and four-year college in America, plus an additional $100 billion investment in Pell Grants.
Under Elizabeth Warren's new plan,
public colleges would be treated more like K-12 public schools, and up to 76 percent of households with student loan debt would receive “total loan forgiveness.”
For those who want more detail on her plan for reducing/eliminating student debt, Huff Po has a good explainer here
(I checked the article over; it’s accurate).
Brief summary of the plan:
Last year, outstanding student debt in the U.S. topped $1.5 trillion, a growing financial burden that Warren argues is “crushing millions of families and acting as an anchor on our economy.”
“It’s reducing home ownership rates,” she wrote. “It’s leading fewer people to start businesses. It’s forcing students to drop out of school before getting a degree. It’s a problem for all of us.”
To address the problem, Warren is suggesting what she calls a “truly transformational” approach: wiping out $50,000 in student loan debt for anyone with a household income below $100,000. People with student loans and a household income between $100,000 and $250,000 would receive substantial relief as well. At that point, “the $50,000 cancellation amount phases out by $1 for every $3 in income above $100,000,” Warren wrote.
That means someone with a household income of $130,000 would get $40,000 of their loans wiped out. Someone with a household income of $160,000 would get $30,000 in relief.
But Warren isn’t just interested in a one-time investment in helping those already crushed by student loan debt- she has a permanent solution to keep this from happening again.
- Give every American the opportunity to attend a two-year or four-year public college without paying a dime in tuition or fees;
- Make free college truly universal — not just in theory, but in practice — by making higher education of all kinds more inclusive and available to every single American, especially lower-income, Black, and Latinx students, without the need to take on debt to cover costs.
Some people will say we can’t afford this plan. That’s nonsense. The entire cost of my broad debt cancellation plan and universal free college is more than covered by my Ultra-Millionaire Tax — a 2% annual tax on the 75,000 families with $50 million or more in wealth. For decades, we’ve allowed the wealthy to pay less while burying tens of millions of working Americans in education debt. It’s time to make different choices.
I have chills. This is broad, sweeping, common sense policy that would completely change our economy by making it possible for low and middle income young people and families (and anyone older with student debt) to get out from under their debt and be able to have kids, buy homes, participate in their local economy. It’s a plan to lift millstones off millions of necks.
> Is there any Democrat who isn't in the running for POTUS yet?
does it count if they've expressed an interest?

A friend of mine sent me this. Basically, a Sheriff has instructed all of his people to obey ICE in all things and they kidnapped a US citizen, held him for days, refused to look at any evidence of his US citizenship, and handed him over to ICE who prepared to deport him until one of them found out he was one then dumped him on the street.
It's part of why I keep thinking that ICE, for all the good it does in other areas, has to be destroyed.
