Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

That doesn't account for the vast majority of immigrants, though.
Green card holders and people here on visas are authorized but not citizens nor are they naturalized. And they make up the bulk of immigrants in the country.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.
x4 So basically, any Immigrant that a)isn't trying to be a Citizen, or has a long way to go to be one, and b)commits any sort of crime, no matter how minuscule or dumb it is, can be indefinitely jailed without trial or bail? That's a nightmare that needs to be remedied immediately.
Interestingly enough, though, Both of Trump's Court Picks helped the Liberal Judges form Majority opinions on 2 court cases today
: Gorsuch allowed Native Americans avoid paying Washington State's Fuel Tax, and Kavanaugh (along with Chief Justice Roberts) allowed Navy Vets to sue Manufacturers that forced the operators to use Asbestos.

Gotta love those poll taxes.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Stacy Abrams seems to be becoming another person who, while has done good and might even be good in the future has people latching on to her to run for President way too earlier.
It happens a lot.
The funny thing is that I was actually going to compare her to O'Rourke but decided against it, Wisewillow are you reading my mind?

"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangStacey Abrams is great, and has a really good track record, but I'm not sure I'd want her running for president immediately, if only because there's already 20 or so candidates and she'd almost certainly get drowned out in the fighting between Sanders fans, Biden fans, Warren fans, etcetera ad infinitum.
they're gonna find intelligent life up there on the moon/and the canterbury tales will shoot up to the top of the best-seller listIf you guys just wait until 2032, you can vote me into office. I mean, I have no real resources to run a campaign right now, but I’m sure I’ll solve at least one big problem if you elect me.

I think that quotes are a very important issue, one that I'm glad is finally getting attention. Buttons, as well, are a very complex and controversial issue. I understand that there are a lot of concerned people on both sides of the debate, and I hope to ease their concerns.
As president, I will consult my experts and do what I can to settle this dispute, and hope that the nations comes to the best possible "quote-button" solution during my term. I hope that we, as a nation, can Build a Better Future Together™.
I'm Protagonist 506 (among other names), and I approve this message.
Leviticus 19:34For too long, we have had to deal with the Quote Block menace that has plagued the forums for far too long! We must rid ourselves of the insanity that is plaguing our forum, and follow a more common sense model, one that's worked for other Forums for millennia! A vote for me, and I shall replace the Quote Block only method with an actual Quote Button! And for those who want to keep the old system, you will keep it for 10 years before it's completely phased out!

This gives me an idea for a Forum Game.
Quote buttons? That sounds like pinko commie talk to me. My father and my father's father and my father's father's father all got along just fine without needing any fancy snowflake quote buttons. We worked hard at our quoteblocks, just like God intended!
I'm Joe Republican, and as your President, I will protect this nation from dirty terrorist quote buttons.

For the record, yes, the ruling only applies to unauthorized immigrants. If you're naturalized or otherwise gained citizenship, it doesn't apply to you.
Also I'm pretty sure that ICE has been pulling this sort of shit already. Only now it's legal.
Huh. Convienent pagetopper.
