Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I don't know why I'm bothering to engage Friendperson but no.
While I take issue with CNN not raising more of a stink about how the report isn't neutral, the only time they use "third party" is in quoting someone from the Church.
Someone the Church is paying said that there was no proof of racism. Aside from the absence of evidence not being evidence of absence, there's a blatant conflict of interest there. It's not a complete third-party, and CNN didn't make that claim. Don't lie and hide behind the site. You were called out because people read the article.

Saying the mods don't care doesn't help anything, and makes you look no better as a consequence.

Ridiclious, even if saying that isn't advisable that doesn't make them "no better".
Have some perspective, complaining about disruptive posting is not as bad as posting disruptively.

"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangI mean... they don't. That's just true.
Anyhoo to change the subject and avoid getting thumped, a friend sent me this earlier: Massive Emperor Trump Float Presides Over Italian Carnival
.
It's Warhammer 40K reference. And as usual when W H40k comes up, it took me distressingly long to figure out whether it's sincere or mocking (it's mocking Trump. Probably).
To clarify, the supposed third-party here is a report from an investigative firm (that the law firm has on retainer). So if an investigation was performed, it was "find out if they can prove anything" not "find out the truth."

x4 It's 40k, what side of the Poe's Law it stays is a question that'll haunt future intellectuals for the rest of eternity.

There are some...members of the shallow end of the 40k fandom who honestly treat Trump like the Emperor. Though those are the ends of the fandom I generally stay away from <.< Those who actually take the setting dead serious.
The irony that they are subscribing to the failed dream turned nightmare of a Well-Intentioned Extremist which turns into everything he didn't want to. Meaning In Universe, these fuckheads are exactly the thing that would drive the Emperor to a screaming tantrum if he woke up.

"You can reply to this Message!"IF? It already has, there have been no major improvments to power storage to leave labratory testing in DECADES.
Storage is our bigest weak link in energy technology since there is just no viable way to store large amounts of energy.
The closest we have is filling concrete bunkers with water, and then using it to power hydroelectric systems during high demand, but even that dispite being our best bulk storage option doesn't really store that much in the overall picture of the energy grid.
What is precived as us getting better at storing energy, our electric devices lasting longer on one charge... is actualy an improvments in energy effeciency not storage capacity.
This is why graphene based capacitors were the new hotness for a while, they would have been the first improvement in so long that it was revolutionary.
Energy storage as it is, is some how one of our greatest technological weak points... and if we could solve it this whole thing would be much easier.

We have hollers and private messages for mod concerns, as well as the Appeal to moderation thread
for larger concerns about modding as a whole.
In-thread is not the appropriate venue. Please keep that in mind.
Storage is the weak link in transforming into alternative forms of energy, although I have seen plans to make it work based on local power production (it relies heavily on nuclear power). However, I have seen some interesting ideas, including Lithium Air Batteries
, which apparently could have a similar energy density to gasoline.
