Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

>Sci-Fi Slasher, please stop. We're done. We have been done. This isn't the right thread.
I don't even necessarily disagree with some of what you're saying either, but this is now three personal attacks in two days I've counted from you. The forum has rules about this.
On the other hand,
No, it will absolutely not give you a pass on everything. All of these groups can have white privilege, and that privilege effects their lives, but lets not pretend these groups necessarily "get a pass" out of their own issues.
To understand bigotry fully, you have to take an inter sectional approach to it. This does not mean ignoring those issues completely.
I think trying to convince him is an exercise in futility then, sorry.

The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -FighteerEr, we do have a Racism thread to discuss the meaning of racism and what it is or is not.
SciFiSlasher, I am not sure what you are doing with these posts but they aren't helpful.

What interests me is "$800 million to improve care for children and families at the border" thats an insane amount of money to throw at a problem,it sounds like he thinks promising huge amounts of money will satisfy their interests, forgetting he actually has to delivor on his promise

Somewhat old story, but A black R&B artist hoped singing for Trump would build ‘a bridge.’ It derailed her career instead.

Golden Mean Fallacy in full swing. You try to appease both sides, and piss everyone off.
Then again, the fact that Trump thought this could work speaks volumes about his thought process, or the lack thereof.

I hold the secrets of the machine.I take a great amount of cathartic pleasure in the backfiring of this "offer" on Trump. Here's to hoping that he worsens said backfiring by whatever he tries to "fix" it, just so that he's driven to his non-existent wits' end over how he's failing no matter what he does.
Seriously, what does it take to make him realize that he's utterly stupid and incompetent as a businessman and politician? Having the fact thrown in his face with the subtlety of a wall of stone bricks toppling on him? What would that be like?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.

Okay so I've been watching this thread and I need to ask since this topic has come up.
My college roommate believes that not only is "left racism" against white people as bad as white supremacy, but there are more of those types of people. I know that is not true, but does anyone have proof that I could use against him?
