Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Quite, which really says something.
Thanks
I've bookmarked it because it's such a useful weapon against the people who want to pretend that Gabbard is in any way progressive or Progressive.
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangYeah, that bit was silly.
Though with that said it's still a useful means of attack against the Berniebro's who like her.
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangSo if I'm reading this right, Sanders' 2016 supporters will be split between those who backed him out of personal loyalty maybe going towards Gabbard, not a sure thing, while genuine leftists will probably go towards someone with bona fide progressive credentials. I'm presuming Warren.
How is Warren doing right now anyway?
The former is probably a vocal minority, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is Russian backing to muddy the waters (especially considering she likes their proxy Assad, that gives them even more reason to like her).
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangSee, I think that Sanders' is very much aware of how sought after his endorsement will be among the left-wing of the Democratic party. And I would think that his ego and ambition mandates that he wants to pick a "successor" who isn't going to get rolled over in the first three contests or so. That probably rules out Gabbard.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.I really hope Sanders doesn't run, beyond all the other issues we've established the fact that Warren is a confirmed candidate means that his candidacy could split the vote and risk someone like Bloomberg winning <shudders>.
He should just stay out and play kingmaker instead of letting his pride get in the way.
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangYeah Bernie himself has lost a lot of space already, with both Warren and Gabbard running there’s a divided left field and a divided isolationist field. I wonder if Gabbard spoke with Bernie before announcing her run, as what the hell is she doing if Bernie also runs? If Bernie doesn’t run she makes sense as someone try to take his spot, but if she runs she goes from being one of his people to being an opponent.
All Gabbard has going for her is that she’s a Bernie fanatic, but then why is she running in a contest that Bernie himself is expected to run in?
Unless she thinks Bernie isn’t going to run, in that case her actions make sense, but if Bernie is smart he won’t endorse her, she’s too likely to loose.
I’m curious as to who Cortez will endorse, she’s probably got some strong pull with primary voters at this point.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranHey man, Faceless are actually useful! You can't make the best item in the game without them.

Almost certainly, which is why I don't respect Justice Dem's. Someone like Gabbard should not be accepted just because they said nice things about Sanders, it's supposed to be about principles, not personal loyalty.
