Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Who Yelled 'Heil Hitler, Heil Trump' At 'Fiddler On The Roof' Show Is 'Ashamed'
You'll have to forgive me if I don't believe this.
i'm tired, my friendCribbing the article from the Military thread:
Navy SEAL accused of war crimes in Iraq
[...]
In a two-day preliminary hearing at Naval Base San Diego that concluded Thursday, prosecutors presented accounts from several other SEA Ls in Chief Gallagher’s platoon describing his behavior as reckless and bloodthirsty. They said he fired into civilian crowds, gunned down a girl walking along a riverbank and an old man carrying a water jug, and threatened to kill fellow SEA Ls if they reported his actions.
Well, at least one got charged this time around. Here's hoping more follow.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Fascist ralliers
left without rides homes after taxis and Uber drivers refused to take them anywhere.
Only tangentially-related to politics, but South Park has issued something along the lines of an apology to Al Gore, via a few episodes centered around ManBearPig being real
. The boys realize it and ask Gore for help, but he refuses to give one until they apologize for making fun of him.
They're also skewering the fatalism among those that do think it's real, but that it's too little, too late to do anything.

"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"yeah about 11 years, which is something of a long time, but I'm not sure how short it is in terms of science and legislation.
Though I should mention that I have a question on the related thread that I don't think has been answered yet. NVM, there were a couple responses. One mentioning regulation and limits on lobbying regarding corporate pollution.

Shit like that is what I like to see. We need to make openly espousing Nazi ideology shameful again.
Social ostracization for being a Nazi is how we, as a community, tell people not to be Nazis.

Gil Cisneros has been declared the winner of the 39th California Congressional District. With that win the Blue Wave has officially washed the Republicans out of Orange County.
