Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Has the fact that Kyrsten Sinema is bisexual been discussed anywhere?
I am not sure whether I'd call that race yet. Sure, Sinema is more likely to win than not but I like to wait for the official count to come in.
Also, the good folks at Vox have a summary of the recount/runoff issues in Florida, Georgia and Arizona
.
Frankly, I have to remember myself that there is something to discuss.
Yeah, Donnelly trying to court the right and the left at the same time was a big mistake. But the add is really bad, too. It is waaaaay too defensive and basically boils down to "I will support what the Republicans do anyway". Ooookay...good for you.
Regarding the Recount...apparently Abraham's campaign went out of its way to collect data regarding how many provisional ballots haven't been counted yet, and the number they came up with is staggering. Which isn't exactly surprising considering how much Kemp went out of its way to keep ballots from undesirables out - which in turn means that a huge number of the votes in those provisional ballots are most likely Democrat. Plus, her lawsuit actually has a leg to stand on. The ones from the Republicans do not, they are just an attempt to stop democracy from happening.
So, I’m sure y’all will be shocked, but, going off the official police report,
it looks like Tucker Carlson is full of s*** and the “attack” on his mansion was... really tame.
It sounds like the troops stationed at the border aren’t really having too much fun: [1]
Remember how I mentioned a goodly number of pages back that deploying troops to 'provide logistical support' is a tried and true obfuscation for getting into an area where you want them to shoot brown people 'keep the peace' and then ensuring that they shoot brown people 'have to respond decisively' by putting them in a position where they're right in the way of where brown people troublemakers are going to be?
Well putting them up in tent camps when better accommodations are available and making them do pointless work, while also supplying them poorly is a Gulf War Era tactic from the same vein. Because when soldiers are bored and frustrated, they're more welcoming of any chance to break the monotony and vent their frustrations.
And yeah, that's not the Pentagon's plan, they don't want their people on that border doing make-work for the President's political hobby-horse. Hell, even Mattis probably isn't a fan of this nonsense going on...
But someone like John Bolton has both the portfolio and malice to intentionally create a situation like this and know what he's doing.
Question is, of course, whether it's going to work out the way he wants it to, which I don't think it will.

Angry gets shit done.![]()
First of all, are you implying we poorly supplied our soldiers in the Gulf so they'd go shoot civilians?
Second of all, almost nobody in that entire FOB is armed. Nobody even has any rifles and there's a very limited number of handguns.
Absolutely no heavier weapons of any kind either.
Oh really when?"Hell, even Mattis probably isn't a fan of this nonsense going on..."
He isn't. The article mentions how it has fed into the growing spat between him and Trump, because it's so obvious that Trump was only doing it for the election's ratings boost. Mattis even made them stop calling it "Operation Faithful Patriot."

Meal Ready to Eat. US military field rations. They are supposedly somewhat more palatable now, but they are first and foremost meant to provide nutrition to soldiers and not flavor.
They bear a passing resemblance to school cafeteria pizza from my Elementary School days.
So yes.

Disgusted, but not surprisedWhen someone kicks you in the nuts every day, merely being punched in the gut one day constitutes a good day.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Second of all, almost nobody in that entire FOB is armed. Nobody even has any rifles and there's a very limited number of handguns.

No, I'm outright stating that warhawks in the US civilian government interfered in the operations and planning of the US military leadership in order to ensure it supplied its solders poorly in the Gulf so that they'd shoot first and ask questions later. Because that's the truth.
And yeah, the troops on the border aren't armed... Because the Pentagon and Mattis put their foot down and said 'that's not going to happen', when the White House (probably at the behest of John Bolton or someone like him) ordered that they should be.
Because the people at the Pentagon aren't idiots, they know full well what putting a bunch of soldiers in a tent camp on the border over the holiday period and then giving them guns and a target for their frustrations is supposed to accomplish.
Angry gets shit done.

Wikipedia seems to believe that Arizona's been called for Sienma.
