Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

So, uh, holy shit, the voter suppression is Florida was way worse than initially reported.
One reporter found 57 people today who didn’t even receive their absentee ballots. Tens of thousands of ballots that were mailed in were “rejected” and voting rights groups are trying to get them perfected by tomorrow at 5pm.
Here
from the Atlantic; here
from the Hill; here’s the Miami Herald
on people not receiving their absentee ballots...
So, in sum, Cruz has been compared to - > Dead Rotting Fish > Lizard covered in vaseline
Please do not insult Fishes or Lizards. Fish are awesome when cooked properly. Lizards are awesome too - obviously not when cooked.
I hold the secrets of the machine. This is also a history question, but can you remind me what exactly what was the scandal that would lead to Spiro Agnew's resignation, and when it happened? Has it been determined if he was really guilty of such?
On a more modern note, I suspect that much like Dan Quayle, Mike Pence is Trump's defense against assassination attempts and impeachment.

In all seriousness though, Ted Cruz has the personality and appeal and brainpower of a dead rotting fish. And I'd rather be in the same room with the fish.
The only reason Ted Cruz is still a senator despite being...Ted Cruz is that R next to his name on the ballot.
Disgusted, but not surprised
