Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Mitch is seriously the worst. Most dangerous Republican in Washington.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Apparently, per 538s liveblog, in districts that went for Obama in 2012 and then Trump in 2016 the Democrats are leading in 13 out of 20. And in Romney/Clinton districts 7 out of 8.
There's some debate over what the new baseline should be for polling. This would seem to indicate that Trump's support was unique to him and might not be reliable for 2020.
I mean, only time will tell, but it's interesting to note.
Our 14th pickup. A House lifer, Pete Sessions, goes down in the TX-32
The Winner: Colin Allred
Beto fell short but he lifted Texas Dems in district after district.

So in the Senate ...
We* lost Indiana. We lost North Dakota. We lost Missouri. We look about to lose Florida, Arizona, and possibly Nevada. What's the upside to being underwater even further in the Senate?
I know it's better in the House races; have the Democrats lost any districts to the GOP? There's too many for me to keep track of.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswPeople think I'm joking when I say Mitch kills thousands of Kentuckians every year through programs designed to deprive the poor of medicine, insurance, FOOD, basic living expenses, and help for drug problems (such as not getting lethal ones).
No, he really is the villain from Dishonored. We need to keep him from rat plagues.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. But as I've said before, you should have anxieties about the Trump Administration. We need to be fighting, not fantasizing.
Been saying that for months, but no one wanted to listen, just yell and deny it... The reality is we are not owed a victory, it isn't just going to happen, the universe doesn't steer itself twords right, and karma doesn't exist
You have to button down and fight for it.
I didn't think a blue wave would happen, but I at least was hoping that something of the sort might present itself.
It looks like my gut was right on this one.
The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -Fighteer

That just sounds more like you misinterpreting what "Blue Wave" actually referred to than anything else.
