Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Gee, I wonder how much of that error was because of Cyrillic Writing?

x4 That would still be good. In fact in some ways, it would be better, because then Trump can't get radicals into Courts and Executive Agencies.
I think the Dems are gonna do great tomorrow. I'm 100% confident they take the House and most of the Governorships this Election, and I believe they can just barely take the Senate. They'll also probably do really good in certain Republican-dominated State Legislatures (like in the Midwest, North Carolina and Kansas).
I'm thinking we might see the Liberal Answer to the Reagan Revolution. What I would call the Obamuprising.

To be clear, the possible outcomes for tomorrow, in order of likelihood, are:
- The Democrats take the House, but not the Senate (~69%)
- The Democrats take both chambers (~18%)
- The Republicans hold both chambers (~12%)
- The Democrats take Senate, but not the House (~1%)
These are number that paint a pretty clear picture.

I’d also note that the Senate outcome can vary, the Dems could gain a seat in the senate, hold even or loose one or more seats. All three outcomes there fall under Dems not winning the senate however but are actully pretty different both in outcome and in narrative.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranTrump winning the election was a wake up call. We started to see the injustice, racism, hatred, disenfranchisement, that had been bubbling up just beneath our noses clearly for the first time, and once we got over the shock and horror, we immediately started to organize, and resist. Remember the Woman's marches or the Science March?

So this has been bugging me for a bit now. I still think the Dems have a very good shot of taking the House, don't get me wrong. However, there was an article published recently that said that weather can have an effect on elections. Basically, if someone's not sure about whether or not they're going to vote or even who they'll vote for, a bit of unfavorable weather might cause them to vote Republican or even not vote at all. Generally speaking this only occurs with borderline voters, and I don't think this will even be that much of a factor. But there are some states on the East Coast which are going to see some potentially nasty weather tomorrow, so there's a chance it might affect things. Maybe I've being paranoid or getting too worked up about something that doesn't matter, but I want to make sure we've covered all our bases.
@kkho: Could you maybe link us to this article instead of just giving us the gist? Because that doesn't sound right. Not the part about the weather making people not vote (because at that point they've decided that the weather makes it too inconvenient), but the weather somehow determining what party someone votes for. That... sounds like shaky reasoning at best.

Plot twist: Rs keep the House but Dems gain the Senate
