Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I'm mostly worried about two things.
1. If they aren't caught quickly enough, they can do something like this again. And that time, they'll have learned.
2. The possibility of copycats. Just this one inept person is bad enough, a group of them would be far worse.

The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -FighteerThe perpetrator was likely a Trumpist — is it really that surprising that he's so far come off as completely idiotic?

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."I laugh at him to deny him respect or fear.
Same way Spike Lee treated the KKK in Black Kkklansman.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I mean, the truly terrifying thing that you don't need to be anyone smart or special to be become a mass murderer. Indeed, being smart is kind of a detriment to becoming a mass murderer- somebody clever enough to think through the consequences of their actions will probably conclude that it's not worth the personal price tag.
But any idiot can cause a lot of damage if he has sufficiently little respect for the social contract.
Rather than a frame job, I think the most likely logic is something like "She's the Democrat's ruler, they have to let something from her through!"

The same Trump Jihadists claiming false flag are the ones that also claim that any mass shooting is also staged. Seems to be a case of trying to gain some unearned fame by now, the idea of crisis actors and faking bad video to make the point and a real attack staged as a fake attack by real ISIS terrorists to push for anti gun laws had run it's course. It's reached the point of attention grabbing now.
Fifteen bucks say if it turns out to be a Trump terrorist then his self appointed secret police will claim fake news.
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursSurprise, surprise another person who was very critical of Trump gets a bomb threat.
Meanwhile prominent conservatives are still saying this is a false flag operation.
And yet, the left is considered divisive because of political correctness, aka human deceny.

Double post: A bomb was addressed to Joe Biden
A darkly humorous thing was that Biden called for unity last night. Again, the GOP just doesn't care.
In news unrelated to the bomb scares, and in a surprise to no one, Trump's cell phone is being spied on by China and Russia
, because he refuses to use one with good security features. [slams head into wall]

Can it honestly be defined as spying if the president is complicit in sharing with his dictator pals?
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursAbout this conspiracy thing? As soon as 2018 is over, we need to get worried and stumped for 2020. If and when Trump loses, he will not go quietly into the night. He's liable to stamp and rage immensely if he loses, and there will be a not inconsiderate portion of America who will instantly believe a Democratic win is illegitimate.
Yeah, that's a pretty solid rule of thumb. People usually aren't half as clever as we like to think they are. Someone who sends out mail bombs is not likely to be a cunning Chessmaster carrying out a master plan, but...well, see signature.
Remember that time a terrorist attacked an airport by driving his car bomb into the security bollards designed explicitly to prevent someone from driving a car into the airport? And then it exploded and, while on fire, the dude ran into the airport and was promptly kicked in the nuts by airport staff?
9/11 gave people a skewed impression of terror attacks. It was basically a Nat 20. A lot of terrorists wind up thwarted by their own idiocy. Crime is usually a lot more simple than what you might come up with when sitting around trying to plan out the perfect crime.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

If this guy is as inept as evidence seems to be pointing, I'm less inclined to doubt it than I was a few hours ago.
