Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I believe every such accusation must be taken seriously.
But at this point? It's "he said, she said". And I don't want to downplay women coming forward and pulling the rug of patriarchy out from under them all, but memory is damn deceptive.
That may be so. But they have also therapist notes from 2012. Part of her accusation has been that what happened had a lasting impact on her, resulting in her having couple's therapy in 2012 with her husband. What happened got discussed then and the therapist took notes.
So, at the very least, what she is saying now can be compared to what she said six years ago.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I hope the Democrats realize Mc Connell's threat is a hollow one. He's not going to give them an inch even if they do back down.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.
Again, the article's from July. If Mc Connel hasn't done it by now, he's not going to do it.
Anyway, Roy Moore calls on the GOP to support Kavanugh and take a stand.
I shouldn't have to say why this is... problematic.

That's one of the worst things about this administration. It's doing its best to lower the bar further and further in an attempt to normalize its behavior.
Kind of like how gamers have gotten used to, with some even defending, the AAA gaming industry's monetization schemes.

Disgusted, but not surprised![]()
No Congressman is going to suggest the Purge. They live and work in a city full of put-upon black people who would love the chance to kill a Republican scot-free.
Complete with the standard bullshit "I'm sorry you were offended" non-apology and claiming they were "misunderstood"!
