Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Concerning Trump's proposed trade war with Japan...
Isn't Japan going to be part of the TPP? Won't starting a trade war with Japan essentially mean starting a trade war with the rest of the countries in that trade bloc?

Disgusted, but not surprisedI can't say how I haven't seen the shitshow on 4Chan over the Trumpanzees there arguing over how Trump would react to seeing their tastes for women and hobbies, while pretty much they were being told that Trump would certainly think they are massive losers.
I'd pay to see the Alt-Reichers to meet Trump, show them their waifus and weeb stuff, only for Trump to wave around pretending he is interested and then having someone record how pathetic Trump thinks these people are for masturbating over fictional cartoons (I'd bet Trump would call Manga and Anime characters cartoons because you know, Trump) instead of going for real women like he does and for being shut ins instead of a real player like Trump.
Inter arma enim silent legesAnd then a journalist (or maybe a political cartoonist, but I'm not exactly sure of the general political leanings there) wittily points out that Trump is as much of a loser as his supporters.
BTW, the talk of a potential Trade war with Japan has me wondering, How was the Film industry in America affected by the trade war with China?

I dunno, Trump may see girls dressed as characters from Dead or Alive or Neon Genesis Evangelion and go for it. Most normal people would and Trump may not be normal but he likes girls.
I saw this a few pages ago and can't help reacting:
Instead of "more than once", they should have used a phrase that actually implies frequency. In fact, even a simple "frequently" would be better.
Either way, Trump's meltdown over it might be a good thing, if it pushes him into such mistakes that he ends up incriminating himself...
I read on french news that the NFL anthem kneeling controversy is back with a vengeance, but I'm not sure this is the right thread for it. "And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."

That would be the one thing stopping the threat to any real life...say, Jill Valentines or that being impossible the next best thing.

Reading tropes such as You Know What You Did
Thing is he said it, Trump made the comments, I don't think he retracted or clarified what was said. With that...um, with that said it's low hanging fruit. What about looking to and getting support from Kim Jong Un? That is certainly far more worthy of critical comments than whether he would be into his daughter.

My understanding is that rulings like that mean 'the letter of the law is against you, but you don't actually deserve to be punished.'
