Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Referencing this paragraph:
Looks like they want to make sure Supreme Court nominations who potentially threaten Roe v Wade can make it through vetting.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The original Jacobins were the radicals of the French Revolution; who eventually devolved into mass murderers (if not worse) much like later revolutionary movements. The Reign of Terror was primarily their doing.
The Jacobin here is a far-left publication, with all the moonbattery and Unicorn Brigade-ing that implies. Overall, they've spent more effort attacking people like Clinton (and even the mainstream center-left in Europe) as insufficiently revolutionary for their tastes, instead of focusing on the right.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. While Jacobin is a rather terrible publication I think it's kind of silly to ask for another source, the article in question directly links to the original Libertarian think-tank report.
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangI should be more clear, I just don't like giving them clicks.
In fact, here is a link to the report itself: https://www.mercatus.org/publications/federal-fiscal-policy/costs-national-single-payer-healthcare-system?utm_source=bridge&utm_medium=bridgepost&utm_campaign=medicareforall
'd my edit.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Oh I see, that makes more sense.
In that case here is the report
for anyone who doesn't want to help Jacobin.
Because there are people sufficiently leftist that they want a revolution (or rather give the appearance of revolution, they're mostly sane and thus just want an election) thus they name themselves after a famous revolutionary movement.
To be fair to them there aren't many non-murdery revolutionary movements so they don't exactly have many peaceful options
(I realize you may have been facetious but I'm posting it anyway!)

Jesus Christ, was the unpopular tax cut of last year really not enough for the rich? Inequality keeps increasing and Trump is making sure it doesn't stop breaking a new record every year. Anyway, I think he can't just bypass congress like that on this issue.

At this point I'm starting to wonder if Eat the Rich might be a legitimate survival tactic.

I wonder who wrote this? It certainly wasn't him.
...accurately. 90% of media coverage of my Administration is negative, despite the tremendously positive results we are achieving, it’s no surprise that confidence in the media is at an all time low! I will not allow our great country to be sold out by anti-Trump haters in the...
..dying newspaper industry. No matter how much they try to distract and cover it up, our country is making great progress under my leadership and I will never stop fighting for the American people! As an example, the failing New York Times...
...and the Amazon Washington Post do nothing but write bad stories even on very positive achievements - and they will never change!
Ugh, I've been saying since Occupy Wall Street that something has to give in regards to income inequality, otherwise the Torches and Pitchforks will simply be a matter of "when", not "if".
"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"

Out of curiosity, what's particularly disreputable about jacobin?
