Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

There's a good deal of speculation that there will be a bunch of seats that change hands but the simple fact is that the fascist heart of Trump's supporters remain unmoved.
Even as they start eating their children.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. The Trump faithful will not change their minds on this. Whether it's due to genuine devotion to Trump and / or the GOP, blind hatred of the "libs", unwillingness to admit they fucked up in 2016...they won't change.
But like Crimson said, we don't need them to change their votes to win.

Disgusted, but not surprisedWe need to encourage as many people as we can to vote democrat this year and 2020, i'm completely serious it looks like the U.S. is actually becoming a dystopia and nobody seems to notice, i'm utterly terrified right now.
So we've found the idol whose alter the GOP and alt-right and bourgeois worships. How widespread is Mac Lean's article?

There's a protest going on at the White House right now.
Has been for some time. I'm posting it here because I haven't seen it anywhere in the fucking MSM.

I wonder if there's a chance that a new conservative party will be founded, one that will correct the mistakes of the current GOP while still maintaining the "good" conservative values (such as respecting the 2nd amendment without being the NRA's bitch, seeking to find less antagonistic ways of solving overwhelming immigration, focusing on national defense, etc).

x6 If Democrats outperform Republicans severely in 2018 and 2020 (so much that it makes 2006 and 2008 look like jokes in comparison), to the point that Trump is a 1 term President, expect the Republicans to go into crazy mode again; a new extreme right organization, most likely Trumpeteer in nature too, will pop up, be propped by the remaining Koch Brother, and will try their hardest to take over everything again come 2022.
It happened in '94 when Clinton won, and it happened in '10 with Obama's victory. The only major difference might be that the Right can't go any further Right, especially if Millennials keep voting past 2020.

I mean anything's possible but they would likely need to identity and remove anything contamination of what I now dub "Buchanianism" (for lack of abetter term) to be effective at being an actually moral conservative party. The odds of which are make a snowball's chance in hell look more probable.
Even if such a party forms, the GOP would be the bigger fish shark and would likely try to consume the fledgling party or re-corrupt them back into their fold.

"“Each person seeks mastery over a world of slaves,”
Is this guy a sith? because that sound like one, I half expect him to shoot lighting out of is ass.
But yeah, I feel right now the GOP is going to is very limits witout tearing apart(feel apropiate to make a FATAL joke and if you make one, shame on you), there is a point where polarization goes before going into a clivage and is clearly they already pass it.
I will said the GOP will be kick and let to rot, as they should.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Reposting this CNN article in response to people asking about the Blue Wave. TLDR; all the statistical and historical signs are in the Dems favor, and things are looking better now (for the House, the Senate will of course be a knife fight to even hold their ground in, but there's little that can be done there, math is math) than at any point since 2016.

And I wouldn't call the Democratic Party conservative; they are a big tent, fundamentally moderate party that includes plenty of conservatives, but they hardly dominate the other power blocs.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.@Charles Phipps: Not really. The Democrats are still considerably left compared to most conservative parties world-wide.
Leviticus 19:34Also, someone please tell me that this could serve as fuel for a federal investigation into this criminal conspiracy against the government and/or the general public by the Koch brothers.
