Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Uh, that's not what I'm saying though. Go re-read my response.
I'm not saying "it's" only when you read pro-Clinton stuff that you gain a biased perspective.
I'm saying if you only read pro-Clinton sites that you'll get a biased perspective. Same applies to pro-Trump and pro-Sanders stuff.
New Orleans begins removal of white supremacist monuments
. Due to the mountain of death threats workers were fully masked, wearing bullet proof gear, and were escorted by police with snipers deployed across the rooftops to cover them.
The Washington DC policymaker centrist echo chamber. Though since centrism has more or less died out among the GOP, these days this is more or less confined to the centrist wing of the democrats. It's a perspective that's increasingly hard to find on the Internet these days for obvious reasons.

I'd argue that the Beltway Buddle also includes media centerists, especially the "both sides are equally bad" lot that dominates the likes of CNN.
Oh and I'm another person who favoured Sanders a lot during the election, I've called a lot of people out on personally hating him or things like thinking he wasn't going to endorse Clinton.
As for presidential candidates, the Democrat governor of Louisiana has stood out to me as someone who could pull from a wide variety of voter pools, Bill Clinton style. Though personally I kinda like the idea of one of the Castro brothers running if they manage to win either the Texas senate seat or governorship in 2018, possibly with Warren as a VP candidate.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranI'm imagining right now Obama doing a campaign ad for one of the Castros and the slogan is something like "Vote once again for the guy with the 'suspicious' name".
Also, have a Cuban-American supporter saying "I love Castro. Beat Julian Castro."
Not familiar with the Louisiana gov. I'll look them up.

Trump may or may not have essentially plagiarized the Holocaust Museum website in his speach on International Holocaust Remeberence Day, today.

I'm pretty sure your perspective will be biased if you only visit pro-<insert person of your choice> sites, not just pro-Clinton sites.
And what is wrong with getting a foreigner's perspective?

Disgusted, but not surprised
