Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

He basically can't fall any further if he wants to avoid a runoff.
If he has to face one Republican alone, he's probably toast.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Seeing on the news that a man in California opened fire on a large crowd while shouting "allahu akbar". Reported that several are dead.

A runoff would a coin flip. The district leans red, but the country appears to be leaning blue. And it is not, after all, a given that whichever Republican comes in second will be able to effectively rally all of their rivals' supporters to them. Nor is it even a given that that would help; Ossof's looking like he's getting high enough number that just gaining the supports from the other democrats who ran could be enough. Certainly enough to make really 'friggen close.
And
'd by two pieces of more surprising news.

@Potential Terrorist Attack: That's terrible to hear. My hopes and prayers are with the victim's families and those who are shot and still alive.
@O'Reilly potentially getting fired: The Man does deserve to be fired, but he used to be one of the more saner voices on Fox News (though he sometimes veers into Crazy Republican territory now).
Still, I will not weep for him if he is fired, and it might result in Fox losing viewers, which would be both good and bad (as they may go for more hardcore Conservative/Alt Right News Sites).
For the record, if Ossoff gets anything over 50% does he avoid run off, or does he need to get at least 51%
He only needs 50%. But he's not going to get it.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayBREAKING: Trump administration certifies Iran complying with nuclear deal, extends sanctions relief but says review underway.

CNN just broke that Ossoff is down to 50.1% at about 70% counted.
I think he has a plurality for sure, but he won't get 50+1.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.
