Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

[Medium (your morning peanuts)] A Blue Way Forward: Two Democratic Candidates Map Out the Future of Democratic Campaigns
. This article gives a short examination of how the special races in Georgia and Montana (and especially, the Democratic candidates running) could change the way the Democratic Party runs campaigns in the future.
Well, a lot of rich people are born into rich families so they weren't exactly the ones who created the wealth in the first place so assigning them the label of some self-made man is factually incorrect.
That's not to say that I have a problem with people inheriting wealth or anything. Just, y'know, don't be a dick like Donnie.
First recycling "Clinton is corrupt" memes, now claiming that Trump doesn't have ties to Russia. You sure you're on the side you claim to be on?
![]()
At the very least, don't claim to be a Self-Made Man if you inherited your wealth. And don't be a dick about inheritance taxes.
The Both-siderism is strong with this one. I'd have called them out but you do such a better job at calling out Clinton conspiracy nutjobs.

Disgusted, but not surprisedWhat I typed in my previous post:
I know that you can do it, Trump. You never disappoint me in this aspect and I don't even have to wait for a day to pass first, too. Even Obama can't deliver results this fast. Ugh...
EDIT:
(5X) It just keep on appearing in this forum and other places, too. So, it's a bit tiring to respond to this kind of stuff from time to time. It's not like this kind of stuff can get a hold here. Most people here believe "Clinton is corrupt" meme is bullshit or don't matter when her opponent is Trump.

Only an experienced editor who has a name possesses the ability to truly understand my work - What 90% of writers I'm in charge of said.Honestly, deploying nuclear weapons on the Korean pennisula (the US can already drop a nuke anywhere on Earth) is less scary than the other options mentioned. Directly targeting Kim or sending in South Korean and US special forces to raid critical infrastructure would, at least, cause North Korea to shell South Korea into dust before Southern/American/Japanese retaliation does the same to them. And if China gets hauled in, at the very least Asia and the Pacific region are going to have a bad day.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. So let's make a tally here. So far, Donnie is on course to piss off China, Russia and North Korea in one fell swoop.
All he's missing is putting nukes in Bangladesh and openly supporting Le Pen and he will officially have pissed off every non-Anglophone nuclear power on the planet.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.![]()
Something something, Snowden, Greenwald, Alex Jones.
Tulsi Gabbard is skeptical that the Assad regime was behind the nerve agent attack
. This despite the only people capable of deploying them in such a manner being the Russians or the Syrians.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotSomething tells me that Trump might create something topping even the Cuban M Issile Crisis...the World Missile Crisis...
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.
What, did that switch snap or something? If there is such a thing as a World Missile Crisis, we are already living in one. The major nuclear powers already can end civilization as we know it without having to ship missiles around.
How the claims of the Idlib nerve agent attack being a false flag came to the US, courtesy of Fucking Global Research
. Oh, and the alt-right.
I'm convinced the Russian reaction to American unilateralism is a pantomime act designed to complement Russian direction of American unilateralism to distract from Russian influence in American policy.
It's all tradecraft. Putin is selling a mole by pretending to be an angry customer.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."It would surprise you to know that she actually has good opinions besides supporting Sanders and the Assad stuff didn't come out until after she was already latched onto.
I don't actually like Tulsi though. She's an opportunist. Still, I can't help but nod my head at some of her opinions and actions.
Like Tulsi is against TPP and she's also for a revival of the Glass-Steagall Act, she's against the Iraq War, she's against making arms deals with Saudi Arabia who funds terrorism, she went to Standing Rock to help the protests, she opposes cutting benefits for Medicare and SS, has proposed some good immigration bills etc
Where she loses me "bigly" is the blatant homophobia she showed a little over a decade ago when she has stated that the government shouldn't cater to homosexual extremists in concerns to same-sex marriage. Then there's also her Islamaphobia.
I'd call her an improvement over Manchin if she was Senator in West Virginia but since she's in Hawaii then I'm supportive of her getting primaried by someone better.

@Mad Skillz: I see no point or merit of defending someone like Tulsi Gabbard. If you're defending her because she gives the progressives a bad name, have you consider the fact that it's easier for the progressives to, you know, throw her under the bus instead of defending and supporting her. Not to mention, she is in Hawaii, a state that clearly don't need a democrat like her.
@vast-ocean: You can remove the "if" part in the sentence about Trump and add it into the Clinton. I'm not responding to this part of your comment before because it's boring to type the same response to the same comment over and over again. I just want to ask you one question: Why do you believe that the reports about Hillary is corrupt is genuine, but still have question whether or not Trump is corrupt despite all the reports that confirm that he is indeed corrupt?
As for the Democrats is the lesser of two evils, I think that it's a bit too harsh to them. If you think about it, all the reprehensible stuff that the Democrats do in your list is either pragmatism or forced onto them by the Republicans. Not saying that this is fine and shouldn't be changed, but at the moment I think pragmatism is more important than idealism.
EDIT: Don't you think you're being a little too into the conspiracy nutjob stuff with the Hillary here? Clinton is working with the FBI now? For what exactly? To not get elected?

No there weren't. This got debunked about a million times during the election and I'm rather saddened that no one else is the thread bothered to call you on this horseshit.
