Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

For any of you that want a chuckle, read this [1]
A coal museum in Kentucky is getting retrofitted to run off solar power, in order to save money, since the school is getting its budget cut.
It goes much deeper than that-Kansas has been solid Red from top to bottom for years with essentially no pushback-now, the state is spiraling into enormous debt, bleeding population, and everything wrong with Republican fiscal policy in on display in an accelerated microcosm. Perhaps the biggest problem with flipping the state blue is the rapid drop in population density, with that in turn being hugely disproportionate in loss of educated and skilled labor.

Stephanie Hansen won the Delaware Senate last month,
in part due to donations. Makes me feel hopeful.
Thing is Kansas has for years been going though what the country is now beginning, unrestricted Republicanism without the limits of sanity or reason.
Honestly considering how bad things have been getting in Kansas I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually saw violence as a reaction to what the state government has done.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranUm, no. They need to release evidence of Trump working for them. That pee tape is gross and stupid, if it exists, but compared to the other shit he's done in office, it's nothing. Not even embarrassing compared to the two losses he's incurred so far. And nothing compared to this move, which could be seen as courting not just a renewed war in Syria but also an all-out conflict with Russia.
No, for Russia to tank Trump, they need to go "nuclear" and show evidence of the GOP being in their pocket. It's the only way to shake enough Republican voters for a Democratic win.
Just to be clear, should...
I don't think I've been alive for something as dramatic as this to happen before now. Are there any safety precautions I should personally take for this?
I'm worried about being in a war, needless to say, much less one where we're more-or-less the instigators.

Seth Myers on O'Reilly scandals.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=L3S8A9HRdLA
Edit: Seth Myers is the host of the Late Night so it's a lot of Satire along with analysis and didn't seem to be worth it. But it's discussing the relationship between Trump, Fox News and Bill O'Reilly, as well as the O'Reilly's sexual harrassment charges.
