Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

So, the EU, NATO and ASEAN nations might secretly fund the Democrats, Japan will help whether party is doing well, Russia might continue helping the Republicans, China and Islamic Extremists might try to wreck both while Latin Americans might fund the third-parties?

The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.Considering how badly Trump has burned the Bridge with Democrats in General, him burning the Bridge with Teapublicans would essentially mean he gets nothing done through Congress for 4 years...
It'd be funny if Democrats actually took up on the offer. After rigorous screening of any proposed actions and a visit to a priest to assess whether it'd be a deal with a devil or not.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanScrewing over the GOP may well be the first step in governing responsibly. Not letting the country burn completely, but treating this too normally either. (The line? I'm far from sure...)
As for Germany, it shouldn't be too hard convincing Germany (and the world) that we're sincere when we get on all 320 million pairs of knees and say our apologies in four years, based on the retweets.

Look with century eyes... With our backs to the arch And the wreck of our kind We will stare straight ahead For the rest of our lives
I don't think the USA just get to kiss and make up with Europe like that. The US were already kinda hard to deal with, but considering just how insane politics has been getting there, Europe would be stuck crossing their fingers every years that their big buddy doesn't go mad again.
What I'm saying is, that unless something more fundamental than the current president changes, Europe might just be better off looking for opportunities elsewhere.

I'm sure the Europeans are just going to play a waiting game. Just four more years and then...
Were I Merkel, I know I would be thinking "Hmm, if Putin can get away with it, why can't I?"
I'm done trying to sound smart. "Clear" is the new smart.
