Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.

Bellingcat on the Aleppo mosque bombing
.
Currently available evidence points to the US, even if the Pentagon tried to claim otherwise.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotSecret Service laptop with Trump Tower floor plans stolen in New York
The agency confirmed that an agency-issued laptop was stolen, but it did not offer details on its contents. The Secret Service did say the stolen laptop itself could not have contained classified material but could have been used to access such material on a server.
In addition to the laptop, the thief made off with official Secret Service lapel pins, according to law enforcement sources with knowledge of the matter.
"The U.S. Secret Service can confirm that an employee was the victim of a criminal act in which our Agency issued laptop computer was stolen," the agency said in a statement on Friday.
"Secret Service-issued laptops contain multiple layers of security including full disk encryption and are not permitted to contain classified information," the statement continued.
The agency said an investigation is ongoing and that it would withhold further comment "until the facts are gathered."
Authorities are still searching for the laptop, according to law enforcement sources. Police expect to quickly identify the suspect from video evidence, the sources said.
The computer is encrypted and authorities are able to wipe the hard drive remotely if needed.
The device, which belonged to a female Secret Service agent, was stolen during a break-in in Brooklyn, New York, law enforcement sources said. The burglary happened Thursday morning at 8:40 a.m. in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn.
Police are still working to identify the perpetrator.
Editor's note: This story originally stated that the stolen laptop contained details of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, per law enforcement officials. A law enforcement official has since told ABC News that the Secret Service did not investigate Clinton's emails and there would have been no reason for such information to be on a Secret Service laptop. This story has been updated accordingly.
... Bets that this "accident" isn't so accidental?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Trump agrees to let Republicans add Curbs to Medicaid for Ryancare:
The Curbs give States the Power to force Individuals on Medicaid to Work, would allow States to accept "Lump Sums" for Medicaid instead of additional money based on how many Medicaid patients they get, and States that expanded Medicaid from Obamacare would not get additional Funds to do so.
Despite this change to Ryancare, Republican whips are still counting ~40 Republican "no's" in the House, and the Democrats will not support it ever. Republicans still have to change more with Ryancare to make it appetizing to even House Republicans.
What this really means is that Trump is going all in with AHCA, and if this doesn't work, I think they will simply let Obamacare 'die'.

Looking at the Last Two Days: Good God. Well, being Leader of the Free Worldnote aside, can the next administration at least bring up the rear? Or hold Germany's and Ireland's bags while they're working?
And on Trump screwing over some of his most visible supporters in Appalachia, well, queue up. In four years we and every demographic in the US can join hands and swap how Trump screwed us stories over Apple Pie and Irish Whiskey. The winner gets to ship him to the Hague if that mosque story turns out to be sound.
Some Light Catharsis though: Ex-aide calls cops on GOP candidate in Georgia special election
Jack Melton said she has only raised about $2,500 and couldn’t pay him and at least a half-dozen other staffers who fanned out to homes across the district, which stretches from east Cobb to north De Kalb, pushing her campaign message.
“It’s very disappointing. It broke my heart,” said Melton. “We were doing great work. But you can only treat people like that for so long.”
Once the chief executive of the Tea Party Express, Kremer is one of 11 Republicans and 18 candidates overall in the April 18 special election to replace Tom Price. With Democrat Jon Ossoff’s emergence, Republicans increasingly acknowledge they’re warring over one spot in the likely June 20 runoff.
[Kremer's] paltry fundraising fast caught up to her, and that she refused to meet with a fundraising consultant he and another staffer hoped would help her raise more cash. He provided invoices detailing at least $22,000 in unpaid bills, and said he was torn up about his decision.
“We kept getting pushback and no pay. And we finally said we can’t do this anymore. We would submit an invoice but there was just no money being raised or had. We did everything we could,” he said. “We’ve just got move on from it.”
Cooper Mohr, 30, was on the campaign’s field team and was staying in Kremer’s east Cobb house with two other staffers. After he resigned from the campaign, he said Kremer changed the locks and wouldn’t let them get their belongings. Reached outside her house on Friday, he said he contacted the Cobb police for help.
“I’m not going to let them do this to us,” he said.
And a Gem from the BBC
For the past few months that line has seemed less of a joke than a prophecy.

Look with century eyes... With our backs to the arch And the wreck of our kind We will stare straight ahead For the rest of our livesSo as no world leader actually respects Trump or acts like Trump is even equal to them, surely made their fears of The US isn't respected anymore a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy.
Inter arma enim silent legesReading through all these pages after a brief absence makes me wonder is the Republicans are currently in some sort of a contest like "Are you dumber than a 5th grader?" or "Who want to be the dumbest person in the world?". And it isn't supposed to be easy considering the fact that we also have some of the brightest minds in this age like Erdogan, Kadyrov, Assad, and Kim Jong Un.
It's moment like this that makes me propose that Tv Tropes adds a facepalm emoticon.

Only an experienced editor who has a name possesses the ability to truly understand my work - What 90% of writers I'm in charge of said.A lot of what we should be aware of is that a lot of the GOP that's currently in office are part of the Tea Party wave that rode into office on outrage and opposition. So for many of these folks, they've never actually been the governing party. They've been solely an opposition party. Graham and Mc Cain feel very much like exceptions to that rule, which is probably why we're getting even as much as token resistance out of them; they've been in the game long enough to have experience being part of the governing party.
And now they suddenly have to have an actual plan that is more than "shout repeal and replace" or "say no" or "government shutdown." They have to actually make decisions about things and reap the consequences of what they do. For many of them, this is a brand new position. And it's not one they were prepared for.

It might, Trump would at least be considered a traitor the ideals of the anti-establiment people (The xenophobes and bigots would still accept him regardless). And as a result he would become a target for future populist movements. The analogy would be a pig learning how to walk...only for the rest of the farm to revolt when they find out. Non-populist movements would also get in on this as well, citing what would inevitably be a long list of things he did against the interests of the people. If he becomes sufficiently dangerous and his opponents have more influence, then the option to impeach would be possible.

In this case...the animals at the farm would still revolt. the whole being indistinguishable from the establishment he claimed to be against thing is the crux of that. Populist and non-populist movements alike would then have reason to get him out of the Oval Office.
(I apologize if I misunderstood your post. I wanted to be clear that the possibly of the farm animals in this analogy being complacent like the novelnote I drew the analogy came from might not be the case).

Putin's already won honestly. His goal was to destabilize the US and he's already succeeded at that. Any control he can exert through his assets in Trump's government is just a bonus, not his main objective.
All he needs is to keep the West off his back for a few years and he can rebuild Russia's military and Medvedev can rebuild and diversify their economy and it seems he's already gotten it.

Ease up on the kool-aid; there is no more "waking the sleeping giant." Trump will usher in this country's terminal decline.
