Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

x5 Yeah, considering that at some point the Democrat House Members will have to be able to see that it exists, they will at some point read it. This is just for "Drafts" and what not, which is still scummy, but not as bad as it could be.
If the Republicans don't allow Democrats to even have any chance on seeing the Official Document, then we should start panicking. That's Weimer Republic-turned-Nazi Germany levels of deceit if that happens.

I wasn't sure if we talked about this, but alongside signing the EO to "review the EPA's Clean Water Act, Trump also signed EOs to help bring more women into science, technology, engineering, and math jobs, the first having NASA ramp up encouraging and recruiting young woman to join it's programs, and authorizes the National Science Foundation to ramp up it's recruitment efforts.
From what I'm gathering there isn't exactly a very clear definition of what "encouragement" is in this context.
Which doesn't surprise me at all. Trump doesn't really like specifics, the immigration EO was also very sloppy and imprecise as to its contents which was why the ACLU and other organizations were able to have such a strong ground contesting it.
Sessions is another Russian traitor.
He might get Flynn'd.

Unless he lied to VP Pence, he's probably not going anywhere without a subpoena.
But I can't believe that Sessions, of all people, was a Russian stooge. Out of every one in Trump's administration, he was one of the last people I was expecting to see with Russian Ties!
Red Scare III is getting closer and closer to being a necessity...
Landlord kicks out Sen. Marco Rubio's (R-FL) staff due to Protests
. That must be super embarrassing for Rubio. Too bad he ain't getting kicked out of Washington for 5-ish years.

Obama Administration Rushed to Preserve Intelligence of Russian Election Hacking
The warning signs had been building throughout the summer, but were far from clear. As Wiki Leaks was pushing out emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee through online publication, American intelligence began picking up conversations in which Russian officials were discussing contacts with Trump associates, and European allies were starting to pass along information about people close to Mr. Trump meeting with Russians in the Netherlands, Britain and other countries.
Holy actual shit.
New Survey coming this weekend! All these people with questionable ties to Russia...do they just not get that the main reason the Kremlin has been courting them is because Putin and his ilk (rightly) believe that them gaining power would screw up and weaken the USA? Or do they not care?
Not sure which is worse, TBH.
Disgusted, but not surprisedEh, ambassadors have a long history in covert intelligence. It helps to make your biggest spies/recruiters the ones with diplomatic immunity.
I wouldn't start dancing on Grand Wizard Session's political grave just yet.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.

I'd personally go with screaming bloody murder at the journalists for being that stupid.
