Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

It's not politics. It's math.
The reason I'm looking skeptically at that poll is that I'm not sure if you're right. Somebody going 'I wish they were doing more to oppose Trump, but understand they don't have much ability to' might very well be part of that 72%.
The "Repeal Obamacare" movement seems to be taking most of its strength from the "freedom" meme, as stated recently by Rep. Mike Burgess (R-Texas)
and repeated by Paul Ryan and many others.
The core theme of this approach is that PPACA, by creating requirements for coverage, reduces people's freedom to choose the healthcare options that suit them best. Notably, it ignores the fact that, for most of the people who gained coverage under Obamacare, they could afford neither insurance nor healthcare prior to its implementation.
Once again, the "freedom" Republicans are touting is really the freedom to do without, because you're too poor to buy into the shared benefits of society.

He wants to destroy Isis, spend more on military so that nobody will mess with the US ever again, wants to replace all trade deals with bilateral ones which sounded more like he wants to bully nations into doing the bidding of the US...oh, and the pipeline will be build only with US contractors.
Also he is still hammering in how terrible living in Germany and Sweden is.

What the... how in the hell do you... WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU... fuck, I think I need a drink. Or several.
Just wondering how anyone - even conservative voters - can be pranked into doing something like that. Like, what, do they just get handed a flag and told to wave it around, and they do that without even bothering to look at it, or something like that?
Someone did tell me life was going to be this way.Makes sense to me. World domination is one of America's primary goals. It's just that Trump is expressing it without any subtlety now. America is starting to drop the facade that they're the good guys.We want a new American century.

For a group of people who believe that they are like Jesus or MLK, individuals who are persecuted and abused for speaking the truth. They want the cred, but not the pain. Jesus and MLK fought for their cred. Let them fight to get theirs.
