Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Weird, I thought he liked her. Enough that he apparently wanted her to replace Spicer, anyway.
Maybe that ethics thing has legitimately rattled him?
Oh God! Natural light!General Twitter response to Joe Trudeau:

Also, Saturday Night Live strikes again:
All these people who may or may not be fired from Trump's team should be thanking the high heavens that they aren't in either Leninist or Stalinist USSR, where them being fired results in them becoming Unpersoned. Even if any of them do end up in jail.
Also, Trump kicks Conway, I am certain she'll start talking about how terrible Trump is, and any secrets she knows on the Administration.
All of a sudden, the Freedom Caucus has found their balls:
Flynn's new position under the bus has angered Russia.

Is it normal for foreign powers to comment on stuff like this in the first place? Like it's one thing to criticize a government or the public or w/e but given everything else about Russia and this election they don't really seem to care about how this makes them look at all, probably because they know Republicans don't care either.

Destabilization is their primary goal above all else. If they can exert control that's great, if not then we're gonna be too busy tearing ourselves to pieces with internal politics to notice them doing shit like openly violating 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty this morning.

Oh really when?![]()
... Maybe they saw how incompetent, corrupt, buffoonish and (most importantly) unpopular the Trump Administration is, and decided to sow the seeds of doubt within the USA?
Those freakin' hypocrites. But really, what should I have expected from the forces that make the Republican Party?

haven't those two been the top Trump lackeys thus far?
Freedom Caucus trying as fast as possible to repeal Obama Care, regardless of the fact that Republicans don't have a good replacement yet.
Freedom Caucus will not support Trump's Wall, Fence, or Additional Border Security, without a way to pay for it.
Um...about the whole America is two countries for the price of one....When Dating In The Era Of Divisive Politics, Both Sides Stick To Themselves
"This was like a deal breaker for me," says 50-year-old Elizabeth Jagosz from the Detroit area. "If you are Trump supporter, I'm not even going to consider meeting you for coffee."
It's not just an issue of party politics, Jagosz says. It's about core values. Love, she says, cannot conquer all.
"If you don't care about a person who says you can grab women by the pussy and that's OK — I don't wanna date you if you think that behavior's OK," Jagosz says. "If that's not a deal breaker for you, then you and I have nothing to talk about."
...red hats — the ones stamped with "Make America Great Again" — have been feeling the same way.
...Trump Singles.com is a kind of safe space for Trump supporters who say they're sick of the "lefties" refusing to even give them a chance. "[The liberals] are just repeating this left echo chamber of 'Oh, you must be a racist; oh, you must be a homophobe; oh, you must be a misogynist,' " Goss says. "They're judging the people based on who they voted for without actually getting to know them."
...Trump Singles dating site is up to 35,000 members. Liberal Hearts.com, founded by Salvatore Prano, is up to nearly 50,000.
"I think it's very natural to the human animal to bring it into the idea of 'OK, you like this person, well, you must be like that person then,' " Fisher says. "America is taking this very, very personally. No question about it."

Look with century eyes... With our backs to the arch And the wreck of our kind We will stare straight ahead For the rest of our livesCan't say I disagree with that woman. I would at best feel very uncomfortable in the presence of a Trump supporter.
Obviously when it comes to interpersonal stuff a certain amount of tolerance for different views and attitudes towards life is required, but supporting Trump crosses more than a few lines in regards to what should be acceptable.
Trump supporters aren't a monolith and there will be worse ones than others on an interpersonal level but the thing is it doesn't matter. Being personally (and oftentimes superficially) nice and pleasant while not being personally hateful only means so much when you still support a complete idiot who represents a wave of reactionary bullshit and contempt for millions of people just for existing.

I'd call the human-to-bot ratio on TrumpSingles into question. I doubt it's much better than Ashley Madison.
People are paying attention to the Russian ties with the leader of the Calexit movement again
. I'm sure he's grateful to Flynn for that.

Well, yes. Judging people by who you vote for is far from arbitrary. It's not your sex or color. Who you vote for as good a test for the content of your character as you (normally) get. I still see the country on the verge of "irreconcilable differences."
And its not like ties to Russia costs people elections these days... His movement might gain from it. Republicans seem to be A-ok with Putin post-election, and I've no doubts the party would love California out of the electoral college.

I'm enjoying the Joe Trudeau gaffe. I read a tweet that said, "RIP Joe Trudeau, one of the victims of the Bowling Green Massacre"
Another one said that Joe Trudeau is Justin Trudeau's Evil Counterpart, complete with evil goatee!
