Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Dana Rohrabacher is the same guy who tweeted that Alaska should be allowed to join Russia if they happened to vote that way. Apparently, he represents Orange County among others.
Look with century eyes... With our backs to the arch And the wreck of our kind We will stare straight ahead For the rest of our livesIt was indeed the 9th Court Unanimously voting against the EO.
According to @DullesJustice CBP there have been operating on pre-EO pocedure since the Washingston state ruling halting its enforcement. They're still working with people who were affected.
Also, Twitter thread of a lawyer breaking down the 9th circuit's opinion
(to get a written court opinion for this sort of appeal is rare but the Washington state attorney suggested it might be good).
@Marq FJA
They both mean the same thing. The ban is technically still on the books. it's just "stayed" until a final decision can be reached on its constitutionality.

Look with century eyes... With our backs to the arch And the wreck of our kind We will stare straight ahead For the rest of our livesI've been thinking it'd be absolutely hilarious for the GOP to eliminate Presidential term limits only for Obama to crush Trump in the following election.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I think Obama won't touch the White House with a 10 foot pole again.
Continue writing our story of peace.I think he would if he could. He'd be sarcastic and snippy about it, but Obama is first and foremost a very dedicated public servant. Like, he's probably not sitting around fantasizing about a third Presidential term, but if it was possible, I don't think he would hesitate for a moment.
He wasn't a great President because he wanted to do it. He wasn't sitting in the Oval Office verbally masturbating about how awesome his new position is. That's Trump. Obama was a great President because he had a sense of duty, loyalty, and patriotism that was far more important than whatever he, personally, wanted to be doing at a given moment.

Or a thirty-nine and a half-foot one.

Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.Massive Loss, for whoever was asking what Tactical Fox was talking about.
Or to put it another way it hasn't even been a month and he already has a black mark this big on his record.
Can you imagine how mad the GOP would be too?
"WE JUST GOT RID OF HIM FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

@Tobias: Obama wasn't a great President to begin with; history will remember him for failing to defuse the political climate that brought us Donald Trump, and furthermore for refusing to roll back the Bush era expansions of executive power out of a (presumably sincere) belief that it wouldn't end up falling into the wrong hands. I still consider him to be the best President of my lifetime, but his entire policy legacy is about to go up in ashes immediately after he's leaving office, so that kind of precludes him from a list of the best American presidents.
When you think a person couldn't be any crappier then he already is...
... Seriously though, Gold Farming was terrible.

I'd say FDR was the last Great President the USA had, and Bill Clinton was the last Good President we had. Obama's a good person, but his Presidency was Mediocre at best, and I mostly blame the Republican Congress for that.

@Gliphon: Greatness is something I'd keep very, very exclusive. Lincoln, FDR, and Washington are the only ones that I put on that particular list, and even then I'd rather say, "great presidency" in the sense that the executive branch played a decisive role in shaping the future of the country for the better.

Essentially, he thinks the country should split up based on Ethnic lines. Scary, ain't it? And if that's his opinion on Macedonia, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think the same should happen to the USA in his mind...
