Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Was this already posted? A tv broadcast talking about "the Trump administration being under attack by liberals".
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleGraham and McCain issued a joint statement voicing their opposition to the ban. But let's see if he votes the way he talks.
We are turning into North Korea with frightening alacrity.

"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Is that real? If yes, then the question is whether or not it is actually done by Trump or the GOP. My money is if it's real it's just a commercial slot that some overly enthusiastic Trump supporter with too much money decided to use. Even so, it's pretty worrying.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas Edisoncome on now Blue Fish, that's a pessimist thought to think about and not a realist one.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.Eh, I call bullshit.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty. This official sounding name is actually a front for Stop Hillary - a so-called Hybrid Political Action Committee (PAC).
If you ever needed any doubt that Jill Stein is opportunistic POS
New Survey coming this weekend!Such a thing would probably attract way more attention if it were real. Yeah, I'm inclined to call bullshit.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonSomeone was asking about where protests were happening: here you go. Late for some east coast people but not the west coast.
The guy sounds like he's selling used cars.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.Jill Stein is still a quack, more at 11.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Did anyone expect anything else from a person who attends private dinners hosted by Vladimir Putin? Stein is still the same person who flopped on Brexit within hours after finding out most of her supporters favored the opposite of her initial position.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."And the hell of it is, if you list Stein's accomplishments and Clinton's accomplishments side by side, Clinton is the more progressive choice, solely because she's gotten shit done.
I'm still seeing people say that Sanders only lost because of "electoral fraud". This makes me as upset as ever.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonThe only fraud involved with Sanders was the idea that he stood a chance.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Hope Trump is happy about that.
'Course, that family can always come back in 89-ish days, and have an easier time getting in. Although, considering what the USA just did to them, I think they'd rather go to Canada.
Honestly, I don't think Trump has a mental disorder; despite obviously not knowing a thing he's doing, he seems too 'competent', at least in Public. And yes, he is a terrible public speaker, but you don't have to be good at speaking to be mentally stable.
I think he's either Stupid, Evil, or a Combo of the two.

Meanwhile on Earth-2, me and the rest of the people in this thread are arguing about how long Hillary Clinton's proposal for a mandated nationwide maternity leave should be.
New Survey coming this weekend! This feels like one of the bad timelines in Steins;Gate. Someone got any handy microwaves and/or cell phones?
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonA different one article on that.
One of the nation's top psychologists says that Trump has Malignant Narcissism.
Many people with sociopathic disorders can appear competent in public.
In fact being a psychopath is a good trait for a CEO apparently.
1 in 5 CEOs are a psychopath according to an Australian study.

SC fiasco an #Unholy Trinity plan gone wrong. Hope was restructure would minimize influence of POTUS ill advised foreign policy ideas.
POTUS instead removed the wrong people from NSC and inserted Bannon. Concern is that POTUS will take ready, fire, aim approach to for pol.
Priebus calling @Meet The Press interview "disaster." POTUS appears uncooperative on fixing EO problems, more worried about press coverage.
Unholy Trinity frustrated with POTUS idea to screen visitors for websites they frequent, notiing that malicious actors would just lie.
POTUS insists that if they don't confess sites, they'll be denied entry. Doesn't seem to recognize that there would be no way to know.
Concern is that attempting a measure that is almost impos. to enforce will deepen public anger. POTUS believes people will "love it."
Attempts to get POTUS to work on policy failed. Retreats to residence, skulking over Mc Cain/Lindsey announcement and public protests.
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."
From what I've seen, Ben Sasse (Nebraska), John Mc Cain (Arizona) and Jeff Flakes (Arizona) are the only Republican Senators that actively oppose the Muslim Ban. Graham has been silent on the matter.
