Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I saw a picture of Obama hugging Hillary last night. It was strangely heartwarming. I think it was attached to an important article, but I've forgotten now.
Incidentally, if we're nominating celebrities for the 2020 election, I want a Goelz/Whitmire administration.

Mook...you stupid, STUPID motherfucker.
New Survey coming this weekend!I know many people here don't think highly of Thunderf00t, but he just released a video I think it is worthy to watch over the anti-science of Trump and his team and the reaction aimed towards anyone who criticizes Trump regardless of the validity of the criticism.
A portion of them, and he couldn't get enough to win the primary. And he would have driven "moderates" and Republicans (since we now know that he wasn't that scary to them, and that the GOP base has no principles) to Trump. Plus there was his issues with older minority voters.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. Can we stop focusing on all the reasons Clinton lost? Please? I'm sick of every other person coming in the thread and saying "we should have chosen Sanders". Guess what, we didnt, so it doesn't really matter.
It'd be a much smarter idea to focus on what we can do moving forward to make sure minorities and women don't lose our rights, or how we can fight back and elect better congressmen and women.
Well, I'm sure the Dems will do a After-Action Report, and they'll probably follow it.
Trump is going to do a crapton of damage, but he and the Republicans aren't sustainable in the longterm.
Probably her staffers' fault more than anything.

Filibuster and obstruct their moves on civil rights, while letting them crash the economy and their popularity with it.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Thunderfoot's base would drown their own homes and starve to death on the roof in a bid to get back at a girl who refused to be in the same room as they were.
In other words, even if he had the good sense of pointing out the sheer size of the anti-science platform the GOP has before the election, he would not be convincing his Patreon donors.
"Anyone but Hillary's team types": Unless you have had a working time machine in your garage this whole time, taking notes for your state Democratic Party might be more functional. If you're even in the US.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotThe first step to figuring out what to do next are the post-mortem of the election results. We need them for the 2018 midterm elections. For what it's worth, I don't think it was Hillary's fault, but rather the DNC aparatus in itself that needs revamp.

It's becoming clear that the DNC's relationship with HRC was a lot like Stop Helping Me.
I've mentioned this before but a big problem here is that Hillary got barely 50% of the white woman vote according to what someone posted earlier.
That 50% of the women who voted didn't think Trump's transparent misogyny was off-putting enough to avoid voting for him is depressing and tells me too many of them don't properly respect themselves or just hate nonwhite people that much that Trump treating them like meat doesn't matter.

Also, in regards to what party Kanye would run under I'm inclined to think either as an independent or democrat. He's been outspoken about the mistreatment of the black community by the media and society at large in the past and no doubt he's aware of the hate crimes going on right now affecting black people right now. There's a lot of things you could criticize West for but I don't see him throwing his lot with the republicans because they've effectively become the party of white supremacists now more than ever.
I honestly don't want either scenario though, celebrities running for president is gonna turn things into a circus.

Which party would he run under?
