Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

This is the most historic moment I've witnessed. Obergefell and Obama are nothing compared to this.
Continue writing our story of peace.Re George Takei's post: He's 100% right.
My country got through a fascist dictatorship that lasted decades and we might be due for another soon. Doesn't mean that people should have just given up and not fought against the first one. This world will only make sense if we force it to.
The dream is always worth fighting for, even if it's just to say you did. Even if it sounds like a childish platitude it's one worth believing in.
The real question is, does his Humiliation Conga entry need to be burned?
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.Looks like Paul Ryan will not be speaker if what seems almost certain happens
.
And the projected economic outcomes are... how bad, exactly?
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotAfter much consideration I've decided on the most important aspect of tonight: the pity party song. I thought long and hard but decided to go with a classic. I need to hit the hay. Gentle sirs, ladies, and all the others, god speed.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Seriously. We have to fight back somehow.
Not violently, understand. But we have to do something. We can't just give up. Even when he does inevitably take the White House, we have to keep fighting. Apathy is how he won in the first place.
If each and every one of us fight, tooth and nail, to preserve what this country should be, then maybe we don't end up back here again in four years.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Probably. I'd just lock his and HRC's pages now and perhaps for a long time.
I think the arts and representation are gonna be real important for us in the coming years. Only more of a reason to push for diversity even as painful as it might get now with the alt-right emboldened.
