The General US Politics Thread

Go To

Nov 2023 Mod notice:

There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.

If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.

Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.

If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.

In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

If it's true about Wisconsin, Clinton will have to take either New Hampshire or - and this would really be a shock - Arizona.

Like I've been saying.

Our first mistake was not voting Bernie in over Hillary and his anti-establishment image was the only way to counter Trump's.

The DNC screwed us over.

NH isn't enough votes. Either she miraculously wins Arizona, or she loses.

CNN are saying that a lot of votes should drop in Wisconsin come the end of the hour.

Clinton might well lose Pennsylvania at this point, I think its time to give up hope.

Time to bury myself in school, and then the Canadian civil service. Wake me up with America is reasonable again.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.

You're right; I had counted it twice, apparently.

So it has to be Wisconsin.

Trump moved ahead of Clinton in Pennsylvania, according to CNN.

It's not that they(latinos) don't see racism, it's "Those fuckers are cheating to get ahead on the line, fuck em". spite is a hell of a drug.

So now that we've had 60 years since the 50s and we saw the 80s go back to "minorities and civil rights were the bad times. The good times are here again" now 30 years later we might not have learned our lesson.

Every 30 years are we gonna try to do this stupid shit? Elect a regressive who wants to drag us back to an idealized time that didn't exist?
