Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I'm trying to see the bright side as being this: If Republicans are in charge, they can fuck things up so badly that America will be driven further to the left, and also start to distrust Evangelicals even more.
We really have to experience directly how truly bad something is in order to learn to stay the hell away from it.
She'd need Arizona at this point and that doesn't look likely.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?@Bonsai: But how many people will be planted in the ground when the dust finally settles...

Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.According to 538, these results may be due to white voters voting like a racial minority. They're conscious of their race for the first time, and are voting out of fear. And they're still >40% of the electorate.
Also, climate change is going to get so much worse. Our entire planet is fucked.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI'll just go ahead and declare that no matter what happens, that bloody wall isn't coming up. It's not realistic, and Trump never meant it.
Not that it matters a whole lot.
Still, and again, it's not over yet. Late counts favouring Clinton in a couple of states would be enough to swing this back to Clinton.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.
Reading tropes such as You Know What You Did
My current state.

This is it. This is civilization's death knell. When the world is supposed to unite against climate change, it will remain divided. Disaster is coming. How am I supposed to live my life? My parents are abusive, I have no friends, I don't want to fight for something that will end in failure. Someone please tell me what to do.
Well if things turn out for the worst they're in for a rude awakening because things aren't gonna get any better for them.

I've pretty much lost all hope and accepted the fall of this country. With everything Trump plans to do, the wall is the least of our problems.

Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.

The remaining toss-up states still have roughly 30%-40% to be reported each, and Clinton has momentum in certain states. A bit of patience will go a long way.
