Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!its neck n neck in michigan. We might actually fucking get 269/269 new civil war
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Okay, I amend my previous post about not trusting meatspace white people if Trump wins.
If Trump wins, I'm going to find Steve Rogers so he can fix this shit.
"He went on about how precious America was — how you needed to make sure it remained great!
And he told you anything was justified to preserve that great treasure, that pearl of great price that is America!
Well, I say America is nothing! Without its ideals — its commitment to the freedom of all men, America is a piece of trash!
A nation is nothing! A flag is a piece of cloth!
I fought Adolf Hitler not because America was great, but because it was fragile! I knew that liberty could be snuffed out here as in Nazi Germany! As a people, we were no different than them!
When I returned, I saw that you nearly did turn American into nothing!
And the only reason you're not less then nothing — is that it's still possible for you to bring freedom back to America!"

@Godamn, we might get the election called by a Republican senate. America might not be doomed if your middle class and white, but the bootheels will be stamping on minorities faces. Maybe now is the time to just say "Fuck it" and try to find a way to get people to what may be a better, more progressive country.
As I think I mentioned here and Nate Silver cautioned, after the comey letter Clinton fell to within the margin of error and it looks like that margin was all trump. I'm guessing we can blame herding. Pollsters got a lot of small trump wins but dropped those when they saw everyone else going with minor clinton.

According to Wikipedia, it's still a close race (Trumps 216 vs. Clinton's 209). Whoever's going to win is basically going to win through the nick of their teeth.
... But it is looking like it's Trump coming to the White House.
