Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Even though I live in Massachusetts, after tonight, I don't think I'll be able to look at a white stranger without at least some suspicion that they're a Trump supporter. I've made a list of Trump majority towns in MA to avoid as much as possible.

Vermont, Massachussetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia, Rhode Island, Illinois, New York, Connecticut, New Mexico
Leading:
Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Michigan, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Arizona, Florida , Ohio
- Florida: (47.7:49.2) — >99% reporting

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!And the phrase "military-style rifle" strikes my personal pet peeve nerve again. Seriously, there is so much wrong with that phrase.
I'd like to see turnout figures once the shitshow is over. According to local dems opinions the turnout here in my section of NC was even worse than the last. A lot of them were only begrudgingly leaning Clinton for various reasons and the FBI's stunt just before the election tipped a lot of them over the edge and into the abstaining camp.
Whatever happens, we've lost, because it has been demonstrated conclusively that you can be an undisguised lying bigot and still garner massive public support. Half the nation voted for white supremacy, sexual assault, blatant dishonesty, and more.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Heck, I'm a white guy in MA. Too educated to fit into the Trump demographic though, apparently.
Over the last couple weeks I've been thinking about that South Park episode that aired the night after the 2008 election, with Mc Cain supporters hiding out in bunkers for the night because, I don't know, end of the world or something. And I thought- is this, all of this here, how strongly the other side really felt about an Obama ascendancy?
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.NBC Calls:
- Clinton (109): CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NM, NY, RI, VT
- Trump (150): AL, AR, IN, KS, KY, LA, MS, MO, MT, ND, OK, SC, SD, TX, WV, WY
- Too early/close: AZ, CO, FL, GA, IA, ME, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OH, PA, UT, VA, WI
Senate:
- Called for Democrat: CT (Blumenthal), IL (Duckworth - GAIN), MD (Van Hollen), NY (Schumer), VT (Leahy)
- Called for Republican: AL (Shelby), AR (Boozman), AZ (McCain), FL (Rubio), GA (Isakson), IA (Grassley), KS (Moran), KY (Paul), NC (Burr), ND (Hoeven), OH (Portman), OK (Lankford), SC (Scott), SD (Thune), UT (Lee)
- Too early/Too close: CO, NH, LA, MO, PA, WI
Ace: Hawaii closes at 11 PM. It's only worth 4 EV.

The damned queen and the relentless knight.

A few hours for most and a few days possibly for the super close places.
