Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

What's happening is what's expected, Trump has gained a lead currently because his rural areas have finished counting while Clinton's urban areas have yet to finish counting yet and thus she's behind.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranGoddamn it, CNN, you're still going on about Trump's supporters being "frustrated with Washington" when the reality is far simpler. They hate people who aren't straight white men and they're tired of not being able to hurt people who are different and get away with it.
That's right, boys. Mondo cool.Okay, now I really need to stop following this election, even if just for an hour, 'cause I'm starting to get anxious again.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."That was always going to happen. The reason why it's possible to compare Brexit to the US election is because the Leave campaign recruited some of Trump's former campaign organisers to lead the organisation and strategy.

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!Alright, I'm back, feeling quite a bit better. I recommend y'all take a break, it can do wonders.
Anyways, so Virginia's back under control, praise Harambe. Florida's still fucked, but it's fucked either way so imma just pretend it doesn't really exist for the current moment. The rest of the swing states lack sufficient data for a meaningful answer.
The Brexit comparisons aren't working, I saw Brexit happen and what was happening was areas coming in for Leave that should have come in Remain, however no Democrat areas have actually come back Republican tonight, what's happened in that Republican areas have come in early, not unexpectedly.
