Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Oh fuck this
If Trump wins, I will 100% blame the media for their part in it. I don't give a damn if they were supposedly biased against him, the amount of free attention and legitimacy they've been giving to that creep for years is a large part of the reason why we're here in the first place.
That, and apparently about 50% of the US actually thinks his ideas have merit. I haven't heard a single person here in Canada (except one guy, and this was four years ago), say that they thought Trump would be a good president, not even supposedly right-wing folks, so in a way I still have a difficult time even comprehending any of this...

DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT! I hope this goes to 11. I know early rural voting and all that, but I am genuinely scared. Yeah I could survive it, but I don't want Right Wingers to take this tonight. It means more power after just last year their assholishness was finally getting consequences. I hope by 11 we'll have a Clinton victory. :(
I hope this isn't America's Brexit. We should have learned from that.

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!It's not fair yet to call this a "Brexit" scale polling error or anything. Remember that we don't have the results in yet.
Also remember that the counts you see right now of electoral votes for each candidate are based only on the states that have been projected already. There are huge blue results incoming, California most important among them. Trump got a whole bunch of easy states just now, none of them from Clinton's column.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.@Mad Skillz Long story short? Wikileaks revealed a LOT of VERY unflattering potential info on her.
Plus a lot of people are afraid that she wants WW3 with Russia.

1 2 We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. -KVMany friends are comparing this to The Hunger Games, I volunteered to be Female Captain America and punch Trump in the face in case he wins, and other friends are taking photos of the alcohol they're drinking.
I'd say large swathes of America are having a mass panic attack right now.
