Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Let us not speak of armed revolution, m'kay? Fox, we've warned you before about this sort of thing.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"There were threats to impeach Obama on day one as well. I wonder how long the Republican Party can continue to exist if its fundamental reaction to losing elections is to proclaim the illegitimacy of the opposing administration.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Impeach him over what?
Edit: And that's the second time in a row I've had a pagetopper questioning how the Republicans could possibly impeach someone who hasn't warranted it in the slightest.

Oh God! Natural light!![]()
For being a Democrat, basically. The House of Representatives is not required to formally charge the President with any specific crime when drafting articles of impeachment.

What was the rationale these people gave, though?

Oh God! Natural light!Who what will happen but it is looking like Trump is losing NC and NV. NV because of the Hispanic vote and NC because of early votes by unaffiliated voters, which heavily skewed urban/suburban & millennial/Gen X.
If he doesn't win these 2 states he does't have a path to 270.
So my state could help decide the fate of the election. Oh boy.

Can we take a moment to note how smart a choice Tim Kaine was from an electoral college perspective? Virginia hasn't been in play at all this election, by all rights it should be more of a swing state than Ohio or Pennsylvania but it's just been quietly blue this entire time, not taking up any time or attention, just calmly being a solid blue state.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee brought that up too in Samantha Bee's typically refined and dignified manner.

Also the attempt on Bill Clinton hurt the GOP badly. An attempted impeachment could throw the 2018 results into questions due to the inevitable backlash.
