Anti-Trump Republican group's new ad slams President over coronavirus deaths hitting the 'Greatest Generation'

https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/28/politics/lincoln-project-trump-coronavirus-deaths-greatest-generation/index.html

     An Excerpt
A group formed by anti-Trump Republicans will air a new ad Sunday that slams President Donald Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic and for the deaths of World War II veterans and other senior citizens who belonged to the 'Greatest Generation.'

"They did nothing less than save the world ... and it didn't come without great sacrifice," the narrator intones over images from the World War II era, a reminder of how previous generations have given up their comfortable lives for noble causes.

The ad by the Lincoln Project, a political action committee formed in 2019 with the goal of encouraging Republicans to abandon Trump and prevent his reelection, then cuts to the President urging states to reopen amid the pandemic.

"We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself," Trump says as the ad ends with video of an elderly hospital patient clinging to life.

"Haven't we asked enough of the greatest generation?" the ad asks.

John Orloff, one of the writers behind the iconic HBO drama about World War II, "Band of Brothers," wrote the Lincoln Project spot.

...

The advertisement, which will launch Sunday with a $100,000 digital buy in targeted markets, will be seen first in Florida, Arizona, Texas and South Carolina, states that are defined in large part by their military communities. The states have also experienced recent spikes in coronavirus cases.

Recently Biden has announced that on day 01 in office he will send a bill to Congress that creates a roadmap to citizenship for Dreamers and the 11 million undocumented people who live in the US.

This is pretty major, enfranchising 11 million people would do a large amount of good.

This may be the first time that I've seen something that Biden proposes that is unambiguously good on its own merits, rather than just decent but inferior to the progressive alternative.

I'll never like Biden as much as Warren or Bernie but he's really turned my opinion of him around.

Sadly that's been hijacked by anti-government militias.

You can't hijack something that was yours from almost day 01.

Years, now that the SC has made it precedent that a president cannot necessarily just end an existing Executive Order.

I think, if I well remember from the time I looked at his page, that he had that delineated already, so the tweet is basically just reminding people he had that.

His plan at large regarding immigration is described here

and it is better read alongside his plans for Central America as well.

I don't believe "day one" promises. It's political marketing with no value. I do believe that Biden will attempt to accomplish that; I do not believe it will be as simple as signing a pile of executive orders during his first day in office.

Come to think of it, I suppose he might order his staff to prepare a huge batch of bills and EOs so he can ceremonially kick them off on January 21, but that doesn't mean any of those things will happen that quickly. It'll take years... maybe decades... to clean up all of Trump's messes.

I question your definition of value, politics is all about symbolism so political marketing by definition is rarely valueless. He's trying to court people who care about that, which clearly suggests that in office Biden will put it as a high priority.

Which is the important part, regardless of how easy or hard it is Biden is clearly establishing that he'll take it seriously.

You aren't getting my point, style is directly relevant to political success. Ignoring the importance of symbolism misses a major part of politics, not to mention that you can't separate it from substance. Politicians who paint themselves as pro-immigrant tend to push policies that reflect that.
