"He could not know it. For it was not all a joke."Hmmm...
The problem is, I'm tempted to sneak in some Gunbuster units, which might, uh, through off any attempts at game balance (the mass produced Sizzlers, whilst smaller and only needing one pilot, are actually supposed to be as powerful as Gunbuster was during the awesome fight in episode 5).
So, um, yeah. See, it's my favourite mecha show ever, so if I did try to go into this, well... Basically what I'm asking is if this would, uh, be allowed. Because I know how powerful these units are, and I wouldn't want to seem like I was godmoding but I'd really like to play as a Gunbuster unit due to loving the series with a passion as intense as a billion exploding suns. >.>
I'll invest many long grueling hours of research into game balance and spit out some results. Like apparently anything from Gundam Wing will get OHKO'd by most weapons from Battle Tech, but the latter machines are smaller, heavier, more awkward and much slower. It seems Eastern tends towards Fragile Speedster and Western tends towards Mighty Glacier, but there is plenty of room for mixing it up between them.
Real-world stats posted from any (legit) source will be seen as enforced here, but if insane numbers get churned out (like mecha that DOESN'T weight dozens of tons) remember it will reflect on other stats like armor, physical power, etc.

How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?Hmmm... According to the special Gunbuster short about the Sizzlers, they're 130m tall and weigh 2900t. I think. It's in Japanese and those are the only parts of the schematics I can read, ahah.
At least it's armaments are easy to figure out
(god bless Super Robot Wars~)
Still feel a little unsure of whether bringing one of these into this game would be a good idea, though. If it comes down to it, I can always find something more suiting to the power levels you're looking for, but this is really my number one choice, ahah. >.>
This looks interesting. I know for sure I will end up going with either one of Ace Combat's super planes or a Metal Slug.
Or a Tachikoma.

Well, something of those sizes we have uses for but know that due to the incredible bulk you'll be excluded from certain things. I'd recommend somethign smaller only because you can pretty much just trot that thing around an open field and nothing more.
We'll be seeing a lot more varied terrain than that. Unless your character wants to hoof it outside the machine those times.
How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?Yeah, I kind of knew it was a long shot to begin with, but I just had to be sure. I'll try and think of something smaller. I've got my eyes on Valkyries and Zakus (and possibly at least some kind of Gundam, even though basic Zakus look cooler than basic Gundams) at the moment, but we'll see.
I assumed it was me, what with my trying to slip in the giganterrific mass produced super robot and all. >.>

Not sure what Metal Slug is, not familiar with the source. A jet or Tachikoma (as mentioned in the OP) should be fine though.
If you play a Tachikoma, as per the AI rules you'd be allowed a 'pilot' as well, if you want to play a cybernetic from the setting too.

How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?Actually, now that I think about it I'd feel like I was betraying my favourite real robot show if I didn't take an Aestivalis. Guess that's me sorted out at least, and sooner than usual too!
...
...Meh, what the hell. Ichi, ni, san, shi!
Damnit man, that's what I was thinking of!
Eh, whatever. Will a Mobile Trench suffice?

"You have more than enough potential. So tell me what is the one wish that would make your soul gem shine." -Mitt Romney, probablyThat's weird. I can't seem to find info on Entrenched anywhere.
Internet, I am disappoint.
EDIT: Wait, that's because I've been getting the name wrong. Stupid me.

The Danse Macabre CodexVoltron counts and so does NGE if we're using Super Robot Taisen logic.
I also can't help but notice that everyone has latched onto the mecha aspect whilst ignoring everything else we can do with the setting.
The Danse Macabre CodexI said I would go Ace Combat or Metal Slug vehicles!
Also, here's some stuff on the SV-001 "Metal Slug"

Discussion thread.
Okay, first thing is to explain the title; The machines will not be OC but the pilots can be.
See, I was thinking an RP where we have tons of military tech from different scifi works, from aerospace fighters or starfighters, to mecha big and small, Power Armor, tanks (if they can use a single operator) and everything in between (I'm looking at you, Tachikomas).
We'll put them in one big combined-arms shebang and let them loose on some poor, unsuspecting plot.
Ground rules:
Infantry and Vehicles: (Present for all ground missions, present for all underground missions)
Mecha: (present for all ground missions, present for all underground missions)
Huge Mecha: (present for all ground missions, alternate mode for underground missions)
Aerospace: (present for all ground missions, present for all space missions)
Spaceborne Mecha and EVA Infantry: (present for all ground missions, present for all space missions)
