Going back to Dishonored 1 for a bit, I'm curious why people were always so harsh on the plan to get rid of Lady Boyle. Yes, the method of disposing of her was horrific (not that the Pendletons got much better) but she was financing the Lord Regent's British Nazi army and also in on the plan to kill the Empress. Why was everyone acting like she was innocent? When I heard she was okay in Dishonored 2, my thought was, "Okay, we need to make a detour to carve her up."

It mainly seemed to be coming from the idea that idea that Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil since it was implied that Boyle's stalker wanted to keep her somewhere although it was not explicitly stated what he would do with her.
And yeah she wasn't at all innocent and the Pendletons got it worse. It's possible that he could of just kept her as a maid or servant, or just an house wife. It was never stated what that guy wanted....

Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothAlso, of the three potential Lady Boyles, one is an Anti-Villain at worst. I got Esme in my first game, and I was confused as to why everyone hated Lady Boyle until I found out that the other two were a Serial Killer and an Alpha Bitch/Yandere.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.Yeah, well Esme really gives up any real moral ambiguity when she allies with the Lord Regent. It's not like the guy was particularly subtle about his methods of "containing" the plague even when people didn't know he was responsible for introducing it in the first place. I admit, though, I regret not having similar ways of disposing of the conspirators. Then again, I'm glad they didn't just have a rehash of the previous levels either.
I will say that I'm enjoying Dishonored 2 so far. I'm playing Emily and going for Low Chaos on my first playthrough. I'm not happy they did a Bus Crash for Pierro and Callista, though, even if they couldn't get Lena Headley back for the game. They recast the Outsider so I have no idea why it's impossible to recast those two. I would have appreciated also a bit of world building like the idea Emily made it possible for women to become guards or the plague resulted in more opportunities for women, ala World War 2 in rebuilding Dunwall.
I'm iffy about the fact Delilah Copperspoon in the villain for this game but I think she does make a much more compelling anatagonist for Corvo and Emily than she does for Daud.
Here's my review of the original Dishonored if anyone is interested: http://unitedfederationofcharles.blogspot.com/2012/10/dishonored-review.html

I got it in the winter sale, but it won't start because I don't have the Windows Platform Update. But when I try to install that, it just says "Searching for updates on this computer" forever.

'Sup.
I just got the first game around a month ago, and I quite enjoy it (though I find the graphics rather lacking. But hey, it's a 2012 game.) Would you recommend actually playing the second game? Also, how would you compare it to Thief (2014)?
↳ Redirecting to Mvfl G.Thief 4 is like...
What's the word to describe it.
It's like if someone took everything people liked about Thief and replaced them with Assassins Creed and then somehow avoided adding anything people liked about Assasins Creed.

Heads up, the game's getting a free trial at some point 6 April. It's only the first three levels, but that should be enough to get a good enough handle on the game. First level you don't have your powers, you're still in Dunwall and it's fairly tutorial-y (bit more open than the first game's prison level, though), but after that the game proper begins.
So if you're really curious, my recommendation would be just to give it a go. Should be on the PSN and Xbox Marketplace, I think, otherwise Steam if you're a PC gamer like me. Fair warning that it's a fairly intensive spec-wise.
For what it's worth, I really like Dishonored 2, a lot better than I did the Thief revival. A tip: hitting the choke button at the right time while doing a slide attack lets you do an almost immediate non-lethal takedown. The game will tell you to try and slowly choke people out in mid-combat, but that can be a recipe for disaster.

A free trial for Dishonored 2? Sounds interesting! I'd give it a go after I'm finished with my exams.
Also, have you guys seen this?
So. Finished the High Overseer mission. Branded him.
I even managed to save Curnow. How? Well, when Campbell noticed that the glasses were spilled, I burst in through the front doors, shot Curnow with a sleep dart, grabbed him, and hauled ass to a dumpster to dump him in while Campbell booked it.
It was just so abrupt, I wanted to see Corvo debrief everybody about it.

The almost cyborg-y look for Billie feels a bit off for me, but eh. I really enjoyed Dishonored 2 so I'm looking forward to this. Also nice to see Daud (and hear Michael Madsen) again, though I'm not sure how much the initial plot hook does me. Still, fingers crossed that even whatever faults the story should have, the gameplay stays on a similar level to the others.
One thing I notice: one of the Steam showcase image things is a clockwork soldier with the earlier, creepy-looking head model. So maybe they'll show up, who knows.

A lot of the problems have been fixed, but there are still a few issues. Specifically people with AMD cards because apparently id Tech 5 has bad luck with those.
