It's entirely up to you. What do you think your character would be doing at this point? Training? Trying to challenge the Gym even though it's almost nightfall? Visiting the Pokemon Centre or the Pokemon Mart? Wandering around the streets looking for someone to battle? Hanging around at the tail end of the breeding convention?

Anyway here's Blackwall

Alright, finally posting a signup here, now that I have time. Let me know if I need to change or clarify anything.

  • Name: Diedrich Mannhalter
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Diedrich was a bit taller than most of his peers back home, standing at about 5'10", and is somewhat lanky. He has green eyes and short black hair, and always wears a tan leather tool belt around his waist along with a pair of goggles that rest on the brim of his hat. He normally wears a yellow T-shirt under a black zip-up vest with tan cargo pants, and he's sewn a layer of matching-colored wool onto the top of his hat for his Joltik to perch on.
  • Starter: Joltik (Compoundeyes)
    • Moves: String Shot, Leech Life, Spider Web (and if we're going off level 5, Thunder Wave as well)
  • Personality: Diedrich is a fairly inquisitive and analytical person, always looking to find out what makes things tick, a deep-seeded curiosity he inherited from his father. Despite often being seen as rather serious, however, he's not all business- he just prefers to segregate business and leisure time when he can, and contrary to some actually does possess a sense of humor, albeit dry. While he was actually fairly accomplished in school, Diedrich much preferred to build (or dismantle, should the opportunity present itself) things with his hands, and prefers things with emphasis on function rather than form. Having realized early on that failures are simply a part of life, he doesn't let little mistakes get him down and instead catalogs them in his mental list of 'How Not To Do Things'. He decided to go about challenging the Gym Leaders because it would give him an opportunity to see the world, and by extension see all kinds of wondrous creations others had made.
  • Background: Diedrich's family originally lived outside of the country, but moved to Nutmeg a year ago when his father decided to ply his trade elsewhere. His father is a rather skilled clockmaker and tinkerer, from whom Diedrich has picked up much of his skill and curiosity. The tool belt was a gift from his father, as was a steel pocket watch that he carries with him to keep track of the time.
  • Other: Nothing I can think of at the moment.

  • Name: Creighton Glover
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Creighton stands at a fairly average height of about 5'9". While he certainly isn't fat, he's definitely packing on a little chub. He has dark brown, shaggy hair that covers a good part of his head, even obscuring his eyebrows. His skin tone has a light tan to it, and he sports light green eyes. His usual outfit consists of a black hooded sweatshirt with a stylistically drawn Oddish, a pair of jeans, and a ratty pair of blue and white running shoes.
  • Starter: Magby
    • Moves: Smog, Leer
  • Personality: Creighton is a very open-minded and no-nonsense person. While he is usually fairly relaxed and easy-going, he's not afraid to call people out when they're being a dick. At certain times, he can seem a little more absent-minded than usual, and will have a tendency to find humor in situations that really shouldn't be that funny. Overall, Creighton is an optimistic person who loves to explore new things and live in the moment.
  • Background: Creighton grew up in a bland, little known suburb of Goldenrod City. While he's never had much interest in Pokemon, traveling has always been a huge passion for him. Eventually, he realized that, realistically, he wouldn't be able to backpack around the world like he's always wanted without a Pokemon. Thus, he came to the decision to drop out of school and get his trainer's license at the age of 16. Gifted a Magby egg by his older sister, a trainer competing in various Pokemon Leagues, Creighton decided to get his start on seeing the world by traveling to Sicelia. His current goal is to see all that Sicelia has to offer, starting from Nutmeg City, while also finding a group of friends he can travel along with.

OK, here goes -

  • Name: Wesley (Wes) De Luca
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Wes is roughly 5'8'' tall with an athletic build and blue eyes. His hair is light brown, ear-length and somewhat shaggy, and pokes out underneath his signature hat - the red cap worn by pokemon rangers. He is usually seen wearing a grey tshirt with orange sleeves, a orange-red-grey jacket, dark grey cargo shorts and hiking boots. He has a backpack with a variety of camping supplies in and attached to it.
  • Starter: Cyndaquil
    • Tackle, Leer, smokescreen
  • Personality: Wes is friendly and generally cheerful. Apparently possessing a never-ending supply of energy, he loves a good laugh and seems to know no fear when it comes to wild pokemon. Wes is passionate and rather outspoken when it comes to subjects close to his heart – namely, nature conservation, and the merits of his favourite pokemon and trainers.
  • Background: The son of two Pokemon Rangers * , Wes has spent a lot of time out in specelia’s wilds – on camping and hiking trips with his parents or friends, or just exploring solo. While their jobs meant that at least one of his parents were usually away from home at a time, the couple endeavoured to pass on their knowledge of pokemon, fieldcraft and their respect for nature and sense of duty to their son. Wes idolises his parents, cherishes these opportunities to see them work, and naturally dreams of becoming a ranger himself. Now that Wes is old enough to get his pokemon licence, he has decided to take his first step in his parent’s footsteps by travelling around the region, gaining experience and building an awesome team of pokemon companions in the process.

Most common bug types commonly found in the woods with the occasional bird or rodent, some cats too. Spicellia is a region that has all kinds of Pokemon from all the regions, much like the Pokemon Colosseum game region.

I wanted to sign up my character, if that's cool. ._.

Name: Rex Hunter

Alias/Preferred Name: Rex

Universe: Pokémon

Age: 15

Birthday: October 9th

Gender: Male

Race: Caucasian (Human); Spinda (Pokémon) [Only in Mystery Dungeons or due to supernatural effects]

Height: 5’5

Weight: 134 lbs.

Hair Color and Style: Brown with thin, anime-style spikes

Eye Color: Amber

Skin Color: Light-skinned

Attire: Gray jeans with an orange pattern on the right leg, a red and black hoodie, Running Shoes (with a color design of two large white vertical stripes and one large black one in between the two), a black Pokégear kept under the sleeve of his right wrist, and a pouch on his waist for holding his Pokédex

Occupation: Trainer; Dragon Clan Member (post-Johto); Pokémon Researcher (post-Kanto)

Alignment: Good

Goal: “To defeat Whitney…and the rest of the Gym Leaders, I guess…” (Johto)

“To challenge the Kanto Gyms and test the bonds with my team.” (Kanto)

“To learn more about Pokémon and the world around me.” (Sevii Islands and onwards)

Motive: Rex’s initial goal to defeat Whitney (using Falkner and Bugsy as practice) arose from his desire to rectify the losses he suffered against her previously. While this did eventually lead to him challenging the other Johto Gym Leaders, his heart wasn’t as into it, ultimately ending with a humiliating loss delivered by Clair. However, from that loss came growth, as Rex came to better bond with his Pokémon through trust and understanding rather than petty grudges. Interaction with Legendary Pokémon over the course of his journeys and his own budding maturity caused him to gain a greater interest in the field of both historical and Pokémon research. While he still enjoys the thrill of battling and training Pokémon, his primary interest has become investigating the mysteries of the world around him.

Personality: Shy but able to socialize, though he has a bit of a sarcastic streak; more upbeat around Pokémon, his mom, or people he considers his friends; conservative with money (usually spends it on food or items for his Pokémon)

Attitude: Respectful of adults and authority, courteous to females, tolerant of all kinds of Pokémon (has no real favorite type or species), etc.

Likes: His Pokémon, training, reading, playing games, puzzles

Dislikes: Pushy people, feeling helpless, bossy girls, being interrupted while doing something, being the center of attention in crowds

Strengths: Usually able to easily befriend Pokémon, especially those he owns; well-read for his age

Weaknesses: Has a bit of a prideful attitude; hates riding bicycles down hills

Tastes: Being raised on fruits and vegetables due to Johto’s fertile soil, Rex isn’t as much of a finicky eater as most kids. He usually has berries on hand to eat for himself and his Pokémon.

Favorite Meal: Macaroni and Cheese with broccoli and a glass of cranberry juice

Least Favorite Meal: Liver and Onions

Education: Home-schooled up to a high school level; capable of reading on a college level

Marital Status: Single

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Hobbies: Playing with his Pokémon, training, horticulture, researching, reading, video games, Pokéatlhon, Bug Catching Contest, etc.

Fears: Being made fun of, losing his Pokémon, being alone

Hometown: Goldenrod City (Johto)

Current Residence: Various secret bases

Surroundings: Rex keeps his room and his secret bases neat, making sure that he and his Pokémon have enough space to move about and go about their business easily. He is very uncomfortable in messes and has a compulsion to clean them. In order to protect his bases from being defiled by wild Pokémon or other Trainers, Rex conceals his bases by using parts of the environment (boulders, foliage, etc.).

Relatives: Faith Hunter (Mother)

Friends: Kim (Pokémon Ranger), Lyra (Neighbor), Whitney (Goldenrod Gym Leader), Bugsy (Azalea Gym Leader; Bug Catching Rival), Clair (Blackthorn Gym Leader), Janine (Fuchsia Gym Leader), Yellow (fellow Pokédex Holder), Silver (fellow Dragon Clan trainer and Pokédex Holder)

Colleagues: Prof. Elm, Green (Viridian Gym Leader; rival researcher), Prof. Oak, Bill (Kanto and Johto Storage System Programmer), Celio (Sevii Islands Storage System Programmer), Prof. Rowan, Prof. Birch, Prof. Juniper

Starter: Rascal the Flareon

Captures: Gaea the Golem, Laplace the Lapras, Zippy the Raichu, Ohm the Ampharos, Dahlia the Bellossom, Anya the Scizor, Alfonse the Xatu, Hex the Absol, Claudia the Castform, Naga the Milotic, Spathi the Salamence, Mantisk the Sceptile, Grey the Rampardos, Salem the Rotom, Pandora the Chandelure, Sizzle the Emboar, Grounder the Excadrill, Lian the Mienshao, Bambi the Sawsbuck, Amia the Swoobat, and Krystal the Zoroark

With Mom: Fang the Raticate, Breezy the Jumpluff, Yuki the Froslass

With Kim: Aqua the Vaporeon

Badges: Zephyr, Hive, Plain, Fog, Mineral, Storm, Glacier, Rising, Boulder, Cascade, Thunder, Rainbow, Marsh, Soul, Volcano, and Earth

Key Items: Pokédex (dark blue and sea foam green), Pokégear (black) worn on his right wrist (Clock, GPS Map, Phone, and Radio functions), Running Shoes (activated by inserting a command into the Pokégear), Backpack, Berry Pouch, TM Case, Bicycle, Poffin Case, Berry Pots, Squirtbottle, a large notebook filled with his research notes

Profile: Rex grew up in Goldenrod City with his mother, Faith. His father left to become a trainer when he was young, cutting off all communication after a few months. While Rex’s mother was available to care for and love him, he never made any friends his own age. Most other children would go playing with their Pokémon on the routes outside of town, but he had to stay within the city, due to not having any Pokémon of his own. Instead, when he wasn’t reading in his room, he would hang around the Game Corner, enthralled by the lights and sounds. Eventually, a generous patron gave him some spare coins after their own generous win, allowing him to purchase his own Pokémon as a prize. It was then that he met his Eevee, Rascal.

Rex and Rascal formed an immediate bond, the little boy excited to finally have a friend of his own. Rather than playing with others, they would explore various parts of town, having their own “adventures”. Eventually, as Rex became older, he became aware of the Pokémon battles that other people were partaking in. Deciding to use them as a way to finally get others to notice them, Rex challenged the first person he came across, a girl who had recently moved into the city. Unfortunately, she easily defeated him on three separate occasions. Devastated, Rex decided to give up on battling, returning to his childhood games. But, despite his love for Rascal, he still felt empty inside, the games no longer as amusing as they used to be.

Six months later, Rex became aware that the girl who defeated him was actually the new gym leader of the Goldenrod Gym, Whitney. Feeling a sudden twinge of resolve, Rex was determined to surpass her and all of the other trainers in Goldenrod. At the beginning of the next Johto League Season, Rex set out with Rascal, beginning what would later become an unusual adventure.

RP Sample: A flash of light signaled the release of the Pokéball’s lock, an Abra appearing from the whiteness with a small, annoyed noise. Then, its eyes began to open into narrow slits, blue energy crackling in its gaze. Its body flickered, as if made of static, and then vanished into the air, leaving naught but an empty ball and a patch of grass.

With a groan, Rex trudged forward to retrieve his tool, his partner Rascal skipping to keep up with its trainer’s longer strides. The dog-like Pokémon nuzzled against its companion’s leg encouragingly as the boy stooped to pick up the Pokéball, its tail thumping against the top of his shoe. Noticing his friend’s attempts at trying to cheer him up, Rex gave it a weary smile. "I guess it's not as easy as I thought to catch Pokémon, huh?"

He sat down at his Eevee’s side, blades of grass wilting underneath him. Rascal scampered up to its trainer before hopping into his lap and placing its furry head against his stomach, purring softly. "I guess we can take a break now,” Rex agreed, scratching behind Rascal’s ears almost absent-mindedly, the small Pokémon tail waggling even faster than before. “Maybe we'll get lucky after lunch."

OK, firstly, a lot of that information is kind of irrelevant. It's great that you've fleshed out your character so much, but we don't need to know everything about him. There's a format for character profiles on either page two or three, and it would probably be a lot easier to assess your character properly if you condensed all that information into that format, especially since everyone else has done the same thing.

Secondly (and this is the main reason I would prefer to see that character sheet changed into the other format), you've missed one of the most important aspects of your profile, which is the Pokemon he will be starting with and the moves it knows. Everyone in this RP is a rookie Trainer at the moment, so they'll be getting a Pokemon in its first stage of evolution on about the same strength level as the conventional starters. He won't have access to his previous team here. That would make him ridiculously overpowered as compared to everyone else, which really isn't fair.

Thirdly, I'm not entirely sure what to think about his relationships with canon characters, particularly those from the manga canon. The RP is essentially set in the universe of the games, which means that Silver's storyline would be radically different and Yellow would not exist. Also, Pokedexes are a lot more common in this universe, since all of the rookie Trainers get one. As for the relationships with canonical game characters... Well, I think I'll leave that to Moerin to decide, but honestly from where I'm sitting the fact that he seems to be friends with half of the Johto / Kanto Gym leaders seems just the teensiest bit Stu-ish.

Moerin is a senior GM to me and knows more about the direction the RP is going, so it's ultimately her decision, but as things are right now, I would say your character needs to be made over somewhat before he'd be able to fit into this RP. It's great to see that he's so fleshed-out, but he doesn't really seem to have been made with this setting in mind.

Oops. Lemme address that. I kinda posted the information from my universe RP with my friend. Rex can be flexible, and doesn't necessarily need to befriend the Gym Leaders.

His starter is an Eevee. I'll post a moveset shortly.
