[up][up]I just wish that hey would make him more mature...though the whole coma theory makes me want to leave it be. If I had my way the new season would be a brand new series, using both protagonists from the games as partners/rivels with a mature angle to them. That or bring in Flannery and scorch the earth with Fiyah!

Hey, I have no problem using concepts from the anime. It's just that I, um, haven't seen it since I was a kid and all. >.> But if people want to use them, then I'm all for it. This game should run on the Rule of Fun, after all, and so anything that helps people have fun is very welcome.

And, um, hey, Mizumi. Sorry if it seems like I hijacked the whole thing, ahah. >.> I just thought I should take the initiative for once, and, uh, well, one thing led to another and, um, yeah. It's good to know that you're willing to help with NP Cs and such like, as it's always good to have someone to fall back on in case you get overloaded. Um... Ahem. But yeah, sorry about that. >.<

As for the Pokedex question... Um... Hmmm. I kinda assumed that all the kids would get one, but, um... Hmmm. Interesting point. I suppose there'd only be a limited amount of them around, but, um... Hmmm. I'll see what everyone else thinks about it, I guess.

ANYWAYS! I suppose I should share notes about the main locales of the region, and the typings for the Gym Leaders. If it seems like I'm doing too much of this and not letting anyone voice their opinion on how the region should be like, let me know. I've been known to get a bit carried away when I throw myself into a project, ahah. Anyone who wants to help design the themes of the different cities and/or the gym leaders quirky personalities, go right ahead!

First off, we have Harissa Town. Basically the Pallet Town of... Whatever this region is called (any suggestions would be most appreciated!). Nothing much to really say about it aside from the fact that it's also the situation of the Dogwood & Olive Research Facility, where the kids will get to choose from one of 15 Pokemon to be their first.

Some of these have less noted about them than others, so bare with me if some seem a little bareboned, or even little more than just a name and a type for the gym leader to use.

Anyways, next is Nutmeg City, with its ground gym, and then Chicory City with its grass gym. After that is Ginger City, based upon Venice, with its boat-filled canels rather than streets. As Pokemon is a generally idealistic world setting (other than Orre, anyways), it can be assumed that it doesn't smell as bad as the real Venice. The leader naturally uses water types.

Next up is Aniseed City, based on Rome itself! (Note: I'm not actually basing this on a map of Italy, so if the geography seems all wonky and messed up... It's because I Did Not Do The Research >.<). A huge, bustling city known for its great cultural significance the world over, as well as for its massive colliseum (which acts as a gym and a contest hall). The gym leader is a woman named Carmina, a famous opera singer who is also a champion coordinator. She favours the dark type.

After that, there is Sarsaparilla Town, which looks surprisingly like the set of an old western. Possibly because it is an old movie set for westerns, based off of the old spaghetti westerns (yes I know they were actually filmed in Spain but that's a minor detail >.<). The gym leader uses the poison type. The next location on the map is Vanilla City, which... Has a normal type gym.

Next is Cinnamon City, which is as much like the Vatican as it can possibly be without somehow running the risk of causing offence. The gym leader is a kindly old priest (who the kids possibly have to wait to finish his sermons before they can battle him) who uses steel types, as they "are just like my faith... UNBREAKABLE!". (Also, because it means I can give him Bisharp.)

Finally is Paprika City, which is... The site of a famous school? A tribute to the scientific history of Italy, or the rennaisance? Either way, it's well known as a center of enlightenment and wisdom, and the gym leader uses the psychic type.

Somewhere between all these I have "Mintleaf Forest" written down as a location. No idea where it would be, though. >.<

And of course, this all leads us to the site of the Pokemon League, the volcanic island of Mount Jolokia. Based on Sicily and especially Mount Etna. Legend states that Jupiter sealed the monster Typhon inside Mount Etna, and so it is here that Team Genome (tentative name, what do you think? ...Can you think of a better one?) accidently unearth more than they bargained for. Once that's all sorted out, that only leaves the Elite Four, who specialise in (from first to last) electric, ghost, dragon and bug. They'll probably show up at some point before the league as NP Cs or something, I guess.

The EVIL TEAM, as stated previously, is a cadre of mad scientists, headed up by the charismatic and possibly completely insane Professor Wattieza, former teacher of Dogwood and Olive. Their teams are predominately rock types, and include a lot of fossil Pokemon, although they also occasionally contain Pokemon that ressemble prehistoric creatures, such as Mammoswine and Tyrannitar. The only admin I have planned out for the team currently is Amber, a strange girl from somewhere far away who is something of a Cloud Cuckoolander.

Um... So anyways, uh, comments, questions, suggestions, lynchings, anyone?

So, let's think about the starter pokemon. We're gonna need more than three... And can we not have the electric type be Pikachu?

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.

That sounds very well planned. smile I especially like the Vatican homage.

You shouldn't worry too much about the details, we can figure them along the way, that's what good R Ps are all about. Though I suggest that we have a *specific* mission to fulfill so that we don't leave things unfinished at some point.

Btw, maybe the scientists are going mad from exposure to the Chthluhumon and its spawn? Just an idea.

[up][up] Lo siento, no hablo Español. (Actually, I do! [lol])

[up] I suggest one starter of each element, so the players can choose their favorite type.

I like the region - sounds like a good start. In terms of starters, perhaps the professors could have 1 of each type to hand out (17 Pokemon total, or something. Maybe Dragon and Steel types missing for balance?). It would certaintly encourage diversity.

I call the trainer who is traveling to travel. Not necessarily going for contests or gyms, but traveling for the sake of exploring, and traveling, and learning. No real goals in mind, but some could develop over the RP.

I like what you all have come up with so far, but I don't care to play characters much younger than their late teens. Will you need somebody as a guest GM, so to speak, for gym leaders or other miscellaneous characters?

Um... As for starters, I'm not sure if I was implying it hard enough, but I was kind of implying that there'd just be one of each of the 15 previous starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott), because... I kinda always liked the fact that your startng choices were kind of limited to three types, and, well, it's kind of a series tradition for your starter to be either grass, fire or water (other than in Yellow, at least). But if everyone else wants to try something different, I guess we could try and work something out, although they'd probably have to be, um, around the same level of power as the starters are.

[up][up][up]We probably will, actually. Although I do think that sometimes it's good to try out playing something you don't normally play, but if you really would rather not play as a kid, then I guess I can't force you.

I like the Team name, and I have some ideas about expanding upon the Legendaries. Legend tells of the first three trainers, who lived in this region, and their pokemon. Back then, no one could really control more than one pokemon, so no one really had more than one, or even especially powerful pokemon. These three trainers, whose names are lost to the mist of time each had the three most powerful pokemon, of which their was only one. One had Monterus, the mountain forest pokemon of the Alps (Grass/Rock), one had Sneg, the frozen forest pokemon of the far north (Grass/Ice), and one had Nocturn, the haunted forest pokemon of the woods beyond the Alps (Grass/Ghost).

These three trainers traveled the world and trained their pokemon to be greater than any others, and they were hailed as heroes! However, a meteorite came from space carrying a strange pokemon with it. The meterorite crashed into Mount Jolokia, and buried itself deep inside. Out from the meteroite came a beast of fire and darkness (Fire/Dark type) who claimed the mountain as its own, and began changing it to his liking. The dark experiments of this pokemon, now known as the mythic Maligitus, caused Mount Jolokia to turn into a volcano, erupting and destroying the nearby cities. The three trainers of legend went to investigate, but found no foul play as Maligitus had already left to seek out pokemon that it could modify to its dark desires.

Soon, people began to disappear, slowly but surely, and this time the three trainers weren't convinced by the evidence of foul play and dug deeper. They discovered the dark secret of the mountain, and confronted Maligitus. In a great pokemon battle, the three trainers fought Maligitus, who was able to face them on equal grounds, despite being out numbered, only because he had human hostages. The battle that ensued destroyed most of the land in the region, but the trainers were eventually able to defeat Maligitus.

However, they could not kill it, and were forced to seal it in the Mountain, and sacrificed their pokemon, and themselves, for this task, who acted as the seals for its prison. Now, Team Genome seeks out the three pokemon of legend, not knowing that unsealing them shall release a great evil onto the land...

[up][up]Hmmmm, seems interesting... Yeah, I think that might work out okay.

[up]As far as moves are concerned, I just kind of assumed we'd be using everything up the the fifth generation anyways, so we're all peachy on that note.

...Also, no matter how we end up distributing starters I'm going to reserve Bulbasaur for myself. Because... That was always my favourite starter. >.>

Nutmeg City Gym Leader (Ground) - Tycho, an excitable child Trainer who chose Rock types mainly because his twin sister prefers Electric Pokemon. Having defeated both his father and sister in battle, he earned the title of Gym Leader. However, the sister is planning to make her own comeback, if she can just find a way to circumvent the type matchups...

Chicory City Gym Leader (Grass) - Adriana, a middle-aged woman who acts in a motherly role both towards her Pokemon, the people who frequent her Gym, and her own family members.

Aniseed City Gym Leader (Dark) - Carmina, as described by Moerin.

Sarsaparilla Town Gym Leader (Poison) - Julia, a beautiful, sharp-tongued woman who takes battling extremely seriously. She used to be the Champion, but stepped down and began to train a new team when she became Gym Leader.

Vanilla City (Normal) - Angelo, an incorrigible ladies man; very modern and sophisticated, he loves cute Pokemon almost as much as the pretty girls who flock to his Gym. Vanilla City is a lot more modernised than the other cities in the region, a centre of fashion and romance where young people flock. Sorry if I offend anyone, stereotypes are fun to play with.

Cinnamon City (Steel) - Alexander, a high-ranking priest with an extremely strong faith. His Gym doubles as a church, and he has quite the dedicated flock; they double as the Trainers in his Gym. He's quite an eloquent man, and has a habit of talking during battle.

Paprika City (Psychic) - Leo; an enthusiastic patron of the arts and sciences, as well as being quite rich and gentlemanly. When he isn't battling, he'll help other Professors with research, paint, sculpt, garden or spend time on one of his many pursuits. His goal in life is to become as knowledgeable as possible. He and his main Pokemon, an Alakazam, are birds of a feather.

Hmm, that's only seven cities with Gyms... Maybe have a town based on a rural Italian village, or one in the mountains? The Gym Leader could use Fire or Flying types, or something.

Also, how's this for a signup sheet?

  • Name:
  • Age:
  • Gender:
  • Starter:
    • Moveset: (Your starter will have the moves that it would have at the start of the game, but please specify anyway, since they vary from Pokemon to Pokemon)
  • Personality:
  • Background:
  • Other:

Edit: These are just ideas, of course. Feel free to make some up for yourself.

Also, we should totally have the evil team organised in a sort of Mafia-like way. Because that would be incredibly badass. tongue

Also, it would make more sense for them to work like a university. All ideas are peer reviewed, and are seperated into different "fields of study" (generally pokemon type, or possibly fighting style, or what they research (In that case we would mostly fight scientists in the pokemon fighting field)).
