I'm not going to rank mine, though I do have a couple I consider the very finest (Born Of Osiris were winning, but Symphony X and Devin Townsend have pretty much usurped them).
Symphony X - Iconoclast
Born Of Osiris - The Discovery
Tesseract - One
Explosions In The Sky - Take Care, Take Care, Take Care
Protest The Hero - Scurrilous
Devin Townsend - Ghost (Deconstruction was cool, but I've always preferred Devin's pretty, atmospheric stuff to his raging, haphazard metal)
And from the sound of it, the new Dream Theater will top them all as expected.
In no particular order:
- Fucked Up- David Comes to Life
- Tyler the Creator- Goblin
- Panda Bear- Tomboy
- Sebasti An- Total
- Zomby- Dedication
- Burial- Street Halo 12"
And I'm Gay by Lil B just came out last night, but damn is that album good. Probably making this list when all's said and done.
We must move forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.- Tyler, the Creator - Goblin
- The Antlers - Burst Apart
- Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
- Destroyer - Kaputt
- Panda Bear - Tomboy
- Yuck - Yuck
- Trap Them - Darker Handcraft
- Thurston Moore - Demolished Thoughts
- Nicolas Jaar - Space is Only Noise
- tUnE-yArDs - w h o k i l l
- Fucked Up - David Comes to Life
- Death Grips - Exmilitary
- Raekwon - Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang
- Sonic Youth - SYR 9: Simon Werner a Disparu
- Those Darlins - Screws Get Loose
My top 15 of 2011...so far:
1. Wobbler: Rites at Dawn
2. Sanhedrin: Ever After
3. Beardfish: Mammoth
4. Accordo dei Contrari: Kublai
5. Planeta Imaginario: Optical Delusions

Well, it's June 30th, half way through 2011 - you know what that means...
Yes, it's obligatory list thread time.
So, what've you liked this year? I reckon it's been a belter. Here's my top 20 for January-June 2011. Ranking is not necessary, just a thing I like to do because I like to pretend I'm a real music reviewer.
Plenty more I'd love to include, but I needed to put a stop to the list somewhere.
So yeah, what're your favourite albums of this year?
P.S. Might be cool if this were to be stickied/pinned. But we shall see.
